How is the Gate Cut-off is set? And what is the average score required to get admission in IITs?

    20 Jun, 2020 23:07
    S
    Shobhna Chaturvedi

Hi Debdeep, cut off marks in any exam have deciding factors such as:

    • Difficulty level of the exam
    • Number of applicants
    • Performance of the students etc.

Admission to IIT is based on rank attained by a student and not score. As per previous year’s record, to gain admission into the older IITs, you would require a rank under 250 or at least under 300 in the worst case. If you are targeting IIT Bombay or IISc Bangalore, you should aim to finish in the top 80.
