GMAT application process should be started with the registration for the exam, and then proceeding ahead with the booking of the test. Taking a GMAT test is an essential part of the Business school application process. GMAT registration can be done by registering through the GMAT’s official website. The registration process can be done online, by mobile, fax, or postal mail. You can register for GMAT before 2 or 3 months of your tentative test date. GMAT application process should start with you signing up on their official website and filling up some basic personal information. GMAT registration generally takes less than 15 minutes to complete. You should know that the GMAT holds the exams 5 times in 12 months and a maximum of 8 times in your lifetime. Your GMAT score validity is 5 years after taking the test, and you have to send your scores to the universities within this time frame. GMAT test registration is done by creating an account on the official website and then filling up some personal information. Then, you must click on the register button and choose your preferred date, time, and venue according to the availability of the GMAT test centers. GMAT exam registration also needs a valid ID proof.

You can reschedule or cancel your GMAT exam for both GMAT delivered at a test center and GMAT online by phone. Changes to your personal information should be done at least 72 hours before the GMAT exam date . If you wish to cancel or reschedule your exam appointment by phone, you will be charged an additional service fee of INR 834. 

GMAT Registration Process

Candidates must register for the GMAT by making an account on the official website. The detailed steps of the online GMAT registration process are provided below. The GMAT is administered several times a year. There are no set dates for the GMAT as a result. Candidates should register for the GMAT exam at least three months ahead of schedule. During a rolling 12-month period, candidates may take the GMAT no more than five times and once every 16 calendar days. A person may take the GMAT up to eight times in their lifetime.

Step 2: Register for GMAT

Candidates for graduate management admission test registration, need to click on the Exams tab on the top of the page. Next, click on ‘Register Now’ and candidates will be taken to the profile creation page. Then fill the asked details to go further:

GMAT Registration for the Differently abled

For candidates who believe that they can be incapable of taking the GMAT in standard conditions because of a disability, they must request GMAC by filling out this GMAT exam accommodations request form. They must send it with medical documentation by fax or as a hard copy (not by email).

GMAT Registration Fees

GMAT registration fee costs $275 (INR 22583) for test centers and GMAT online test costs $300(INR 24636). From 31st March 2023, as per government budget guidelines, 18% GST will be applicable along with GMAT Registration fees.

Payment Modes for GMAT Registration Fees

Candidates can pay their registration fees both online and offline. To pay the GMAT registration fees online, they can use both Credit and Debit cards. GMAC considers the following:

  • VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover Network Cards are acceptable
  • Charges on candidate’s credit card statement will most likely appear as “VUE*GRAD MGMT TEST” for exams delivered at a test center, or "DRI*EXAMITY LLC" for exams delivered online.
  • In case a credit or debit card is declined, the candidate’s appointment is automatically canceled. They need to schedule another test appointment with a valid payment.
  • In case the candidate is using a stolen or fraud credit or debit card, their registration will be canceled, previous GMAT scores will also be canceled, and GMAC would notify both schools and law enforcement authorities.

GMAT Registration Date

The GMAT exam date is flexible, allowing students to select a time that works best for them. The GMAT registration date can be scheduled by candidates at least two to three months in advance of the preferred test date. Verify the application deadline for the graduate business program that the candidate is interested in enrolling. The applicant must provide sufficient time to gather their application documents, including essays for admission and a SOP. Take the GMAT at least six months before the deadline for B-school applications.

GMAT Test Centers

Candidates should look for GMAT test centers that are conveniently accessible and closest to their home before enrolling for the exam to ensure that they can get there early on test day. Most of the states in India have GMAT test centers. You will receive a $110 refund for the GMAT exam taken in-person and a $120 refund for the GMAT exam taken online at home if you cancel your GMAT 2023 exam 60 days before your scheduled exam.

Ques: Do I need to renew my approval for the GMAT testing accommodations for every GMAT exam attempt?

Ans: Since the approval for accommodations is normally valid for two years, those who have already scheduled their GMAT exam and received approval for testing accommodations do not need to reapply for them when they take the test again. You must go to the Testing Accommodation website and apply for the accommodations if your approval for GMAT testing accommodations has expired. Is AWA section included only in online mode?

No, the GMAT online exam has omitted the AWA section from its syllabus. Therefore, if you are planning to take the online GMAT exam you do not need to prepare for this particular section. The GMAT online exam measures the verbal, quantitative, integrated reasoning, and critical thinking skills that are most relevant for graduate business education. Each section contains the same number of questions and time per section as the current test center-based GMAT exam.
