GMAT is a very renowned entrance exam & it is used to take admission in the MBA courses worldwide. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is the conducting body of the GMAT exam. The skills of the candidates are tested in mainly four areas- the Verbal section, Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative, & Integrated Reasoning. To take admission to the world's best top B schools & ensures the dream career of a student for the rest of the future, the GMAT exam has great importance. The Quantitative portion is very important in the GMAT exam & also very much scoring part also to every student rather than the other portions of the GMAT exam.

GMAT Quant has mainly the two divisions- the Data Sufficiency & the problem Solving, though many chapters, classes, & the divisions are engaged in this part. There is a total of 31 questions in the Quantitative part of GMAT exam. The total time allotted for this part is 62 minutes. So, one student hardly gets 2 minutes to give answer this question. Students have to think fast & also have to maintain the accuracy to score high in the GMAT Quant part.

GMAT Quant also has the Integrated Reasoning part which calculates separately. 15-16 questions on an average come from both Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving section. In the Problem-Solving part, there are mainly three divisions- Algebra, Arithmetic, & Geometry, and Data Sufficiency parts have five options for each question, from where students have to select the current option. Data Sufficiency (DS) part is difficult than the Problem Solving (PS) part. GMAT Quant section is computer-adaptive. The difficulty level of the next question is completely dependent on the answer given to the previous question by the test taker. If the answer is correct the difficulty level will be higher and if the answer is incorrect the difficulty level will be lesser.

    GMAT Quant: Data Sufficiency

This method applies in the Data Sufficiency & it assesses the ability of a student to extract data analyzing different options. Every question has five options of answers & the test-takers have to choose the perfect option among all these options. Mental intelligence is required by the students to solve these questions. The pattern of the options will be mentioned in the below portion.

    1. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient to solve this question, but statement (2) is not sufficient to solve it.
    2. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient to solve this question, but statement (1) is not sufficient to solve it.
    3. Both statements (1) & (2) together are sufficient to solve this question, but no statement (1) or (2) ALONE is not sufficient to solve this question.
    4. Both statement (1) & (2) each is sufficient to solve this question
    5. Neither statement (1), nor statement (2) is sufficient to solve this particular question.

    GMAT Quant: Problem Solving Section

To solve Problem Solving questions a student must a good amount of qualitative skills. The calculative mathematical problem should be solved with proper mathematical knowledge. To use of the calculator is strictly prohibited also in this exam. So, the student must do struggle to answer these questions. The divisions & classification of this part will be described below.

    Scoring Range of GMAT

Though the current score range is in the GMAT Quant part of 6-51. For each correct answer, candidates secure 1raw point. GMAT score is based on three factors:

    1. How much questions a student would answer
    2. The questions are correct or not
    3. Difficulty & other parameters of the questions which are answered

If a student will answer a more number of questions, will answer a maximum of them correctly, & also the difficulty level of the questions is maximum, then the chances to score high of a student in that Quant section should be higher in the GMAT exam. So, when a student would take the preparation of GMAT Quant, he or she must practice it remembering all the details.

The number of test-takers is higher nowadays, though the scale scores are the same as overtime. It has been found that the students get more numbers now in the Quant section than the verbal portion. The Verbal performance reduces over time, while the Quant performance has gone up nowadays. It has been found in recent years approximately 12 percent of students have received 50 to 51 in the Quant section of GMAT exam. Percentiles don’t match with the scaled scores in exactly because of the nature of the population & the overtime shift.

The total scoring range of the GMAT exam is 200 to 800. The maximum numbers of students score the mean score while the number of students is less who scores more. More than half of all test takers of the GMAT exam score 100 points of 550, which is approximately the mean. If one student has a dream to take the admission in one top-most B school, he or she must score much higher than the average score getting by the students. It has been observed that the top 10 B schools accept 720 scores to take admission in their college which is approximately 94th percentile. The competition level is quite high & a student must score so high and would also take the preparation so dedicatedly and efficiently to make the chances high to take their admission in his or dream college

    GMAT Quant: Question Analysis

There is a specific pattern of the question in each part of the GMAT Quant portion. The patterns are-

Problem Solving- In these types of questions, students have to interpret graphs, evaluate data, solve equations or have to answer the questions mixtures of the three. This type is quite easier in the GMAT question than the DS part. The only difficulty level is engaged with this portion is students cannot use the calculator to solve these questions as it is prohibited in the GMAT exam.

Data Sufficiency- In this portion, every question has given followed by two statements. Students have to think & answer is one, two, both or no statements are sufficient to answer a particular question. Enough intelligence is required to answer these types of questions.

GMAT questions also do not include any higher level of Math chapter. It generally includes 10 & 12th class Standard Mathematics but is more critical & tactical to answer. Especially, the Data Reasoning part is the toughest part of the GMAT question. A student must have to analyze each of the options properly & also has to think that the sufficiency level of each statement to solve one particular question. Critical thinking, enough intelligence, & detailed analysis required to reply to these types of questions. So, we can say GMAT Quant portion maintains a proper standard & the students have to practice hard to solve these questions & get an attractive score in the GMAT Quant part. If a student would score high in the GMAT Quant portion, then the total GMAT score will be higher easily.

The question pattern of the GMAT pattern is also unique in many areas. In the GMAT exam, if a student would give an answer to a question, there is no option to go back. Students have to answer then the next questions. The student would get the next question according to his or her given answer to the previous question. If a student would give a wrong answer to a question then the next question would be easier & if the answer to the previous question is right then the next question would be slightly harder. This is a very tricky & unique style of GMAT.

The discussion has made here on the GMAT Quant section. Every detail of the GMAT Quant section has included in the above portion. The patterns of the questions, the parts, divisions, & classes of the GMAT Quant section have been mentioned properly here & the scoring part of the GMAT Quant section has also mentioned. GMAT Quant is a very scoring part of the GMAT exam which must be a factor a student will clear the exam or not. So, the students should be more careful about this portion, make proper planning to do practice this Quant part, & also give their best to get an attractive score in this part.
