IIFT Exam Pattern 2019/ Paper Pattern - Sample Papers, Syllabus, Marking Scheme

Before registering for the IIFT entrance exam, candidates must have familiarity with IIFT exam pattern. As per the specifications laid by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, IIFT exam has multiple-type of questions. Candidates have to mark the most appropriate response from the four choices available. The last date of the IIFT Registration 2019 is September 14, 2018. IIFT 2019 is scheduled for December 2, 2018 in offline mode.

  • The total duration of IIFT exam is two hours.
  • The exam is based on section-wise format, consisting of General Knowledge and Awareness section, the Quantitative section, English Grammar and Comprehension section, and Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation section.
  • Objective/Multiple type of questions are asked in IIFT exam, wherein candidates need to choose only one appropriate answer from the four choices.
  • The marks distribution of each section in exam differs from each other.
  • There is a different negative marking scheme for each section. 1/3 of the marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

IIFT 2019 Exam Pattern

IIFT 2019 is an objective type exam of 2 hours duration. The question paper consists of 125 MCQs. There is no separate time allotted to candidates for each section. The exam syllabus comprises of 4 sections that include:

  • General Knowledge and Awareness
  • English Comprehension
  • Quantitative Analysis
  • Logical Reasoning

IIFT 2019 Marking Scheme – Section-wise

The marking scheme for IIFT 2019 exam is different for each section. For instance, in the Data Interpretation section, a correct answer will be awarded 0.75 marks, while a correct answer from Logical Reasoning will carry one mark. Whereas, negative marking scheme for each wrong response will suffer 1/3 of the allotted marks. The marking scheme is tabulated below for better understanding of the candidates.

IIFT 2019 Important Instructions

In order to score well in the exam, candidates need to be fast and accurate while answering questions. Therefore, candidates need to be clear about concepts and should have enough practice to excel in the exam.

  • Allot time to each section and try to follow this as it will help candidates attempt maximum questions accurately.
  • Extra time should be kept aside to review questions that candidates are not sure about.
  • The reading comprehension section is an area where candidates can score well. However, candidates should not attempt questions that they are unsure about.
  • Candidates often assume that data interpretation is tough. For this reason, it is best to attempt 2 out the 4 questions if candidates are not confident about getting the correct answers.
  • Candidates should take mock tests at least once a week. It will help boost confidence, gain speed and accuracy while answering the exam.
