IIT JAM 2027 Exam Pattern

Every IIT JAM 2027 test paper follows the same three-section structure:

  • IIT JAM 2027 exam has 3 sections: MCQs, MSQs, and NATs.
  • There are 30 MCQs in Section A, out of which 10 MCQs are for 1 mark and 20 MCQs are for 2 marks. This makes the total MCQ score 50.
  • Negative marking of ⅓ is applied to 1-mark questions, and ⅔ is applied on 2 mark question for each wrong answer in Section A.
  • In Section B, there are 10 questions asked in MSQ format, for 2 marks each, making a total of 20 marks in this section.
  • In Section C, 20 questions are asked: 10 for 1 mark each, and 10 for 2 marks each. No options will be given in this section, and students will have to fill in the numeric value.
  • No negative marking is applicable in Sections B and C.
  • The exam pattern for IIT JAM has remained consistent for the last 4-5 years, and is expected to follow the same pattern in 2027 as well.
