IPU CET 2026 Seat Allotment is declared by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) on its centralised admissions portal at ipu.admissions.nic.in, assigning eligible students a college, programme, branch and shift based on their rank, filled preferences and category. The B.Tech counselling runs across three allotment phases: Phase 1 and Phase 2 results are already out. The Phase 3 / Spot (Stray Vacancy) Round allotment for B.Tech is expected on July 24, 2026 — students allotted in this round must pay the Rs 40,000 part academic fee by July 28 and report to their college between July 30 and August 3, 2026. After every allotment, you must log in, choose to Freeze, Float, Slide or Withdraw and complete fee payment within the acceptance window to secure your seat.

All expected dates are tentative and subject to revision by GGSIPU without prior notice.

How to Check

How to Check IPU CET Seat Allotment Result 2026

All seat allotment results are published on the GGSIPU centralised admissions portal and are accessible only through Candidate Login — there is no offline, SMS, or email notification route. The acceptance window typically spans three to five days from the moment results go live; delaying your response can result in automatic cancellation of your allotted seat. Follow these steps as soon as the Phase 3 result is published:

  1. Open ipu.admissions.nic.in on a desktop browser for full portal functionality.
  2. Click Login and enter your counselling registration number and password.
  3. On your dashboard, click the Seat Allotment tab to view your current allotment.
  4. The screen displays your allotted institute, programme, branch and shift. Verify every detail carefully before proceeding.
  5. Download and print two copies of the Provisional Allotment Letter — you will need these for document verification at the institute.
  6. Select one of four response options: Freeze, Float, Slide or Withdraw and confirm your choice on the portal.
  7. If you choose Freeze, Float or Slide, pay the Rs 40,000 part academic fee immediately through the online payment gateway on the portal.
  8. Save the payment transaction ID and print the payment receipt — your allotted institute will not process document verification without it.

Portal traffic spikes sharply near deadlines. Complete your acceptance and fee payment well before the closing time. A failed payment attempt near the deadline can result in seat cancellation even if you selected an option — the seat is only confirmed once the payment is successfully processed and reflected on your portal dashboard.

Accept / Freeze / Float

Accept, Freeze or Float — What to Do After Allotment

After viewing your allotted seat, you must actively choose one of four response options within the acceptance window. Your choice determines whether your seat is locked, whether you remain eligible for an upgrade, or whether you exit the process. Students allotted in the Phase 3 / Spot Round can only Freeze or Withdraw — Float and Slide are not available in the final round because no subsequent allotment round follows.

Option What It Means When to Choose
Freeze You accept the allotted seat as your final seat and exit all future counselling rounds. No further upgrade is considered. GGSIPU confirms your admission at the allotted college and programme. You are satisfied with both the college and branch allotted, or you are in the Phase 3 / Spot Round where no further rounds exist.
Float You accept the current allotted seat as a guaranteed backup and remain in the pool for an upgrade to a higher-preference college or branch in the next round. If an upgrade is allotted, the earlier seat is released automatically; if not, you retain the current seat. You have a confirmed seat but prefer a better college or branch still open in the next round. Not available in Phase 3 / Spot Round.
Slide You accept your allotted college but want to shift to a more preferred branch within the same institute. Your original branch is held as a backup while you compete for the preferred branch in the Sliding Round. You are satisfied with the college but prefer a different branch offered by the same institute. Not available in Phase 3 / Spot Round.
Withdraw You cancel your allotment permanently and exit the GGSIPU counselling cycle for the 2026-27 session. This action cannot be reversed. You have secured admission elsewhere and will not be joining any IPU CET programme this year. Check the refund policy before choosing Withdraw.

Freeze, Float and Slide all require payment of the Rs 40,000 part academic fee to confirm the allotment — the fee is the same regardless of which of these three options you select. Students who choose Float and receive an upgrade in the next round have the fee transferred to the new allotment automatically; students who choose Float but do not receive an upgrade continue with the seat they confirmed. The Withdraw option does not require fee payment at the withdrawal stage; however, any fee already paid is subject to GGSIPU’s refund policy.

Seat Acceptance Fee

IPU CET Seat Acceptance Fee 2026

Confirming a seat after allotment — through Freeze, Float or Slide — requires online payment of a part academic fee. This is not a one-time counselling or processing charge. The Rs 40,000 forms part of the total annual programme fee and is fully adjusted against your tuition fee at the time of final enrollment at the allotted institute.

Fee Component Amount Mode of Payment
Part Academic Fee (Seat Confirmation) Rs 40,000 Online only — credit card, debit card or net banking via ipu.admissions.nic.in
Counselling Registration Fee Nil — waived for 2026-27 session Not applicable

GGSIPU has waived the separate counselling participation fee for the 2026-27 academic session. You pay only the Rs 40,000 part academic fee, and only after a seat is allotted and accepted. No offline payment is accepted at this stage. Always complete payment well before the deadline and retain the transaction receipt — your allotted institute will not process document verification without it. If a payment fails, retry immediately and confirm the transaction status on your portal dashboard before assuming the fee has been received.

Reporting Documents

Documents Required for Reporting

After paying the seat-confirmation fee online, you must report to your allotted institute for physical document verification within the notified window. Carry originals together with two self-attested photocopies of every document listed below. Institutes follow a strict policy on missing documents and may withhold admission until all required paperwork is submitted — prepare your folder at least two days before the reporting date to avoid last-minute gaps.

Document Details
Allotment Letter Two printed copies downloaded from ipu.admissions.nic.in after completing seat acceptance
Fee Payment Receipt Printout of the successful Rs 40,000 online payment confirmation from the portal
Admit Card and Scorecard IPU CET 2026 admit card and scorecard, or JEE Main 2026 equivalents as applicable to your programme
Class 10 Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate Board-issued originals confirming date of birth and passing status
Class 12 Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate Board-issued originals; a provisional mark sheet is accepted if the final certificate is still pending from the board
Valid Government Photo ID Aadhaar card, passport or driving licence — any one government-issued document
Passport-Size Photographs Six recent colour photographs against a plain white background, matching the photo uploaded during registration
Category Certificate (if applicable) SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS / PwD certificate issued by the competent authority; OBC-NCL certificate must be dated within the current financial year
Delhi Region Domicile Certificate (if applicable) Required to claim seats under the 85% Delhi domicile quota; Aadhaar, voter ID or ration card as domicile proof
CW / Ex-Serviceman Certificate (if applicable) Service or dependency certificate for students applying under the Children or Widows of Defence Personnel and Ex-Serviceman quota
Migration Certificate From the last institution attended, if required by the allotted college at final enrollment

Students allotted in the Phase 3 / Spot Round must report between July 30 and August 3, 2026 (expected). Missing the reporting window without prior approval from the institute leads to automatic seat cancellation. Check your allotted institute’s individual admission notice for any programme-specific additions to this list before you report — some institutes additionally require a gap certificate or a conduct certificate from the last institution.

If No Seat Allotted

What If No Seat Is Allotted

Not receiving a seat in Phase 1 or Phase 2 does not close your admission options. Seats freed when students Withdraw or miss fee payment deadlines are redistributed in subsequent phases — and those later rounds often carry vacancies in high-demand institutes due to last-minute exits from earlier allotments.

If you are already registered in the counselling pool, no fresh registration is required for Phase 3 or the Spot Round. Here is what to do:

  1. Stay active in the portal. Do not cancel your registration or withdraw from the counselling pool — unregistered students cannot access subsequent rounds.
  2. Update your choice filling if GGSIPU opens a revised preference window before Phase 3. Broadening your college and branch preferences — not just top picks — significantly increases your chances of receiving an allotment when only residual seats remain.
  3. Check the Phase 3 / Spot Round allotment on July 24, 2026 by logging in to ipu.admissions.nic.in. If a seat is allotted, pay the Rs 40,000 fee before July 28 and report between July 30 and August 3, 2026.
  4. Phase 3 / Spot Round is the final allotment round for B.Tech in the GGSIPU 2026-27 cycle. If no seat is allotted here, no further GGSIPU allotment will be made for this academic year.
  5. If you are not allotted in any round, your counselling registration fee (if any) is refunded as per GGSIPU’s refund policy published at ipu.admissions.nic.in. The Rs 40,000 academic fee is only charged after you accept a seat — it is not at risk if no allotment is made.

Students who were allotted a seat in Phase 1 or Phase 2 but missed the Rs 40,000 fee payment deadline are automatically removed from the counselling pool. Such students are not eligible for Phase 3 or the Spot Round unless GGSIPU announces a special re-registration window — which is not standard practice. Monitor the official schedule notices page at ipu.admissions.nic.in immediately if you missed a deadline to check whether any relief window has been opened.

FAQs

IPU CET Seat Allotment 2026 FAQs

Ques. How do I check my IPU CET 2026 seat allotment result?

Ans. Visit ipu.admissions.nic.in and log in with your counselling registration number and password. Click the Seat Allotment tab on the dashboard to view your allotted institute, programme, branch and shift. Download and print two copies of the Provisional Allotment Letter and then select Freeze, Float, Slide or Withdraw within the acceptance window and pay the Rs 40,000 fee if you choose to retain the seat.

Ques. When is the IPU CET 2026 Phase 3 / Spot Round seat allotment expected?

Ans. The Phase 3 / Spot Round seat allotment for B.Tech is expected on July 24, 2026, as per GGSIPU’s official counselling schedule. Students allotted in this round must pay the Rs 40,000 acceptance fee by July 28 and report to their allotted institute between July 30 and August 3, 2026.

Ques. What is the difference between Freeze, Float and Slide in IPU CET 2026?

Ans. Freeze locks your allotted seat permanently — you will not be considered for any future round. Float accepts the current seat as a backup while keeping you eligible for an upgrade to a better college or branch in the next round; if an upgrade is allotted, your current seat is released automatically. Slide accepts your allotted college but enters you for a more preferred branch within the same institute in the Sliding Round. All three options require payment of the Rs 40,000 part academic fee. In the Phase 3 / Spot Round only Freeze is available, as no further rounds follow.

Ques. What is the seat acceptance fee for IPU CET 2026 and how is it paid?

Ans. The seat confirmation fee is Rs 40,000, paid entirely online at ipu.admissions.nic.in through credit card, debit card or net banking. This amount is part of the total annual programme fee and is adjusted against your tuition at final enrollment — it is not an extra charge. GGSIPU has waived the separate counselling registration fee for 2026-27, so no additional fee is charged at registration.

Ques. What happens if I miss the Rs 40,000 fee payment deadline?

Ans. Missing the fee payment deadline results in automatic cancellation of your allotted seat. You will be removed from the counselling pool and will not be eligible for Phase 3 or the Spot Round unless GGSIPU opens a special re-registration window, which is not standard practice. There is no grace period — the portal closes payment access once the deadline passes.

Ques. Who is eligible for the IPU CET 2026 Phase 3 / Spot Round?

Ans. All students registered in the GGSIPU counselling pool who were not allotted a seat in Phases 1 or 2, and students who chose Float in Phase 2, are eligible for Phase 3. Students who missed a Phase 1 or Phase 2 fee payment deadline are generally ineligible for subsequent rounds unless GGSIPU announces a re-registration window. No fresh registration is required if you are already in the pool.

Ques. What documents should I carry for reporting after IPU CET 2026 seat allotment?

Ans. Carry originals and two self-attested photocopies of: Provisional Allotment Letter, fee payment receipt, IPU CET or JEE Main scorecard and admit card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, a valid government photo ID, six passport-size photographs and category or domicile certificates if applicable. Students under CW or Ex-Serviceman quota must also bring the relevant service or dependency certificate. Verify requirements with your allotted institute’s notice before reporting.

Ques. Can I get a refund if I am not allotted a seat in any IPU CET 2026 round?

Ans. If you are not allotted a seat in any round — including Phase 3 / Spot Round — your counselling registration fee (if any was charged) is refunded as per GGSIPU’s refund policy. The Rs 40,000 part academic fee is only collected after you accept an allotted seat, so it is never at risk if no seat is allotted to you across all rounds. Check the refund schedule published on ipu.admissions.nic.in for the applicable process and timeline.
