    JEE Main 2020 Registrations are over, as per JEE Main Eligibility, candidates who have passed Class 12th in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age were eligible to sit for the exam. NTA had extended JEE Main Form Correction till July 31, 2020.

    • JEE Main 2020 January Session statistics: NTA received 9,21,261 applications for JEE Main 2020 January session B.E/B. Tech Paper, A total number 138410 and 59003 candidates registered for B. Arch and B. Planning paper respectively. As compared to last year, female applicants have increased by 15,247. EWS category, which has been introduced this year observed a total number of 81,413 registrations. JEE Main 2020 January session registration is closed on October 10, 2019, the exam is conducted from January 6 – 9, 2020 in two shifts per day.
    • JEE Main Application Fee: The fees for General/Gen-EWS/ OBC(NCL) boys applying for a single paper is INR 650/-. For girls and SC/ST/PwD/Transgender, there is a 50% relaxation and they have to pay INR 325/- for a single paper.
    • JEE Main Eligibility: This year, candidates with a background of commerce and humanities are also eligible to sit for JEE Main B. Planning Paper. Candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent exam with Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Check JEE Main Registration Fee
    • JEE Main Application Form Correction: NTA reopened JEE Main Application Form Correction window on July 24, 2020. Candidates could make changes in their application form till July 31, 2020 up to 5 pm. Candidates were also allowed to edit their exam center choices for the coming session.
    • JEE Main Reservation: JEE Main 2020 Reservation Criteria is for candidates belonging to categories – GEN-EWS, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), OBC-NCL, Women Candidates and Person with Disability.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Are You Eligible to Fill JEE Main 2020 Application Form?

    It is imperative to check the eligibility criteria before starting JEE Main Registration since your candidature will be canceled if, at any stage, you’re found ineligible,

    1. Age Limit 

    • There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main 2020. 
    • Candidates who have passed class 12th  / equivalent examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2020.
    1. Number  of Attempts

    • JEE Main candidates can participate in the entrance exam for 3 consecutive years.
    • The exam will be conducted twice a year, candidates may appear in both the sessions.
    • If a candidate sits for both the sessions, it shall be counted as a single attempt.
    1. Educational Qualification

    • Students who passed their XII or equivalent exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 are eligible for applying in JEE Main 2020.
    • For B.Planning, the candidates should have passed the qualifying examination with 50 % marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.
    • It is essential for B.E/ B.Tech applicants to have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.
    • It is essential for B. Arch applicants to have passed the qualifying examination with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
    1. Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination

    • Students who passed their XII or equivalent exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 are eligible for applying in JEE Main 2020.
    • Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2017 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020.

    Step-by-Step Guide to Fill JEE Main 2020 Application Form for April Session

    JEE Main Registration Process for April session candidates is as follows: 

    Step 1 – JEE Main 2020 Registration:

    • Visit JEE Main Official Website – jeemain.nta.nic.in
    • Click on “Application Form for JEE(Main) April – 2020.

    • Now Click on one of the two links in the given tab, depending on if you are a fresh registrant or if you have already appeared for the January 2020 session.

    For January 2020 session Appeared candidates:

    • Candidates who have already appeared for JEE Main January session can click on “APPLY WITH JEE(Main) JANUARY 2020 CREDENTIALS”.
    • Read the instructions, tick the box and select “Click Here to Proceed”.
    •  These candidates need not register again,  they can login with their existing Application Number, Password and Security Pin. They will directed to the next step of filling the Application form Details. 

    For Fresh Candidates/ Not Appeared in January 2020 session:

    • Click on “FRESH REGISTRATION ONLY”. 
    • Select “NEW REGISTRATION”
    • Read the instructions, tick the box and select “Click here to Proceed”
    • Application number will be generated after submission of personal details. The application number shall be used for completing the remaining steps of the registration process and for future reference.
    • Fill the Registration Form by Personal Details like Candidate’s name, Mother’s name, Father’s name, Gender, DOB etc.
    • Fill your Contact Details – Address, City name, Email Address, Pin Code, Mobile Number etc. 
    • The candidate is required to choose a password and a security question and enter his/her answer for the same.
    • Candidate’s must note down the security question and answer for future reference.
    • As a final step, candidates need to fill the displayed security pin and click on “Submit”

    Rest of the steps will be more or less the same for both – fresh candidates and already registered candidates.

    Step 2 –Complete the Application Form

    • Candidate can login with the generated application number and created password for completing the Application form. 
    • Aspirants appearing for JEE Main 2020 are required to enter details like Personal Details, Paper name, Exam City Preferences, Question Paper Medium, Educational Details, Parents Income Details etc.
    • Tick the Declaration.
    • After reviewing the details, Click on “Final Submit”

    Step 3 – Uploading Documents:

    • After filling in the online form, candidates are required to scan and upload photograph and signature as per the defined guidelines by NTA. 
    • The recent photograph should be coloured or black/white (but clear contrast).
    • Scanned photograph and signature should be in JPG/JPEG format.
    • Size of scanned photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
    • Size of scanned signature should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.
    • Application forms with unclear photographs will be rejected. 
    • Please keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of exam, seat allotment and admission. 
    • Upload the correct Photograph and Signature as the facility for correction in images will not be given.

    Step 4 – Payment of JEE Main 2020 Application Fee

    • JEE Main Registration Fee can be paid via Credit/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/ PAYTM/ UPI.
    • Along with the fee, candidates have to pay service/Processing charges per transaction & GST (applicable at 18 %).

    • After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the Confirmation Page. 
    • If the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and the candidates have to approach the concerned bank for refund of amount.
    • The candidate has to make another payment/transaction, in case the Confirmation Page is not generated.
    • The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment at NTA websites – jeemain.nta.nic.in and nta.nic.in 
    • If the status is ‘OK’ the candidate will be able to take the printout of Confirmation Page.

    • Fee payment by money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will result in application form rejection.
    • Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

     If the fee payment status is not ‘OK’ the candidates are advised to:

    • In case the fee is paid through credit/ debit/ Net Banking/ PAYTM/UPI and the status shows not OK, it means the transaction is cancelled.
    • Such candidates need to pay the fees again and ensure the fee status as OK. 
    • The amount will be automatically refunded for the cancelled transactions by the concerned banks to the respective accounts. 
    Note – Submit only one application form. Multiple applications from one candidate will be rejected.

    JEE Main Application Form: Instructions For Creating Password 

    During the registration, candidate will be required to choose the password and security question. Candidates are required to save their password for future logins. Candidates are advised not to share their passwords with anybody, NTA or NIC takes no responsibility of any kind of misuse of the password. Candidates should remember to log out at the end of their session so that the particulars of the candidate cannot be tampered or modified by unauthorized persons.

    Instructions to be kept in mind while creating the password are as follows:

    • Password must be 8 to 13 character long.
    • Password must have atleast one uppercase alphabet.
    • Password must have atleast one lower case alphabet.
    • Password must have atleast one numeric value.
    • Password must have atleast one special character e.g. !@#$%^&*-

    How to Reset Password?

    In case the password is misplaced by aspirants, the following ways can be used to set a new one:

    • Use Security Question and your answer during form filling.
    • Use verification code sent via text message at your registered mobile number.
    • Use reset link sent via Email at your registered Email address.

    How to Apply for EWS Reservation in JEE Main 2020

    NTA has issued a notice declaring applicability of the 10% Economically Weaker Section reservation for candidates applying for JEE Main 2019 and onwards. Hence, candidates belonging to EWS category are advised to mark themselves as such in thr application form. Steps to apply for EWS Reservation in JEE Main 2020 are:

    • Visit the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in
    • Look for the Application form link.
    • While filling the form mark yourself as EWS Category.
    • Save the form with the accurate details.

    There is no need to upload the supporting document/EWS certificate in the application form. Though it will be required at the time of applying for JEE Advanced 2020


    JEE Main Last Date to Apply

    • JEE Main Registrations for the coming session were reopened recently on May 19, 2020. Last Date to Apply was May 24, 2020.
    • The step was taken for candidates who missed out on JEE Main Application as they had plans of studying abroad but now are willing to sit for JEE Main instead.
    • Initially, the JEE Main Registrations for april session were opened on February 7, 2020 which lasted for about a month. 
    • Last date to apply for JEE Main 2020 January session was October 10, 2019. The registration window was opened on September 3, 2019. The candidates got a good one month to fill the application forms.
    • A total number of 9,21,261 candidates registered for JEE Main B.E. /B. Tech. paper for January session. Out of which, 8,69,010 appeared for the test. 
    • A total number of 1,38,410 candidates registered B.Arch and 59,003 candidates B. Planning paper of January 2020 session. Out of which 1,12,679 candidates appeared for B. Arch and 44,517 candidates appeared for B. Planning.

    Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in partnership with the Government of India introduced the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct efficient, transparent, and international standards tests. The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development together with the Government of India takes the responsibility to conduct Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards.

    Form Correction Window

    JEE Main Form Correction is a one-time facility for candidates to make changes in the details of the application form. The correction window for JEE Main 2020 April session had reopened from July 24 – July 31, 2020. Depending on the changes made, if additional fee payment is required, the final changes will be reflected after the payment is made. Candidates must go through the changes as no further changes shall be allowed in the application form. Also, NTA opens a photo correction window, before the application form correction window which is exclusively for rectifying any errors in uploading of pictures.     Ques. Can I apply for both B. Arch and B. Planning paper in JEE Main 2020?

    Ans. Yes, you can apply for both B. Arch and B. Planning papers. In such a case, the exam duration will be of 3 hours 30 minutes. 

    Ques. When will the Application Form Correction window for JEE Main 2020 be active?

    Ans. Application Form Correction window for JEE Main April 2020 was active till July 20, 2020. 

    Ques. I am appearing in class XII and I haven’t received my roll number, what should I enter while filling the online form?

    Ans. It is not mandatory for candidates appearing for Class XII to fill in the roll number, the detail is not mandatory. If it is allotted, you may fill it or leave it empty otherwise.

    Ques. My surname in Aadhaar Card is wrongly mentioned, what should I do?

    Ans. For this, you will have to file an application at Aadhaar card centre and get it corrected. You can enter the correct surname.

    Ques. How to compress images for uploading the documents?

    Ans. The images which are to be uploaded in the application form should be of a definite file size and dimension. By following the process given below, you can easily convert any image file into the desired dimension:

    1. Select the image file and right click.
    2. Click on “Open With” and select Paint.
    3. The image will open in Paint window.
    4. Click on the “File” menu in the top left-hand corner of the window.
    5. Select “Properties”.
    6. A small box will open where you can specify/change the width and height of the image. For Photograph it will be 35 mm X 45 mm and for Signature, it will be 80 mm X 35 mm.
    7. Click “OK” and save the image.

    Ques. I have forgotten my JEE Main Application Number, what should I do?

    Ans. If any candidate forgets the Application Number, they can follow the below steps:

    • Retrieving Application Number: The fields include some validation information like Name, DOB, Fathers name, mothers name.
    • Retrieving Password: Go to the website and select “forgot password”. Choose Security Question & its Answer you opted while filling the application form. Enter the verification code sent via text message to your Registered Mobile No. and submit to retrieve the password.

    Ques. What should I do if the fee payment status is “not OK”?

    Ans. If the fee is paid through credit/debit card and status is not OK, it means the transaction is cancelled and the amount will, automatically, be refunded to concerned credit/debit card within 7 – 10 days. Therefore, such candidates have to pay the fee once again and ensure the OK fee status.

    Ques. Can I pay my fee through Demand Draft?

    Ans. No, payment of application fee by DD will not be accepted. 

    Ques. Where will I need application number of JEE Main?

    Ans. The application number received at the time of JEE Main Registration will be required at the time of downloading JEE Main Admit Card and to check the results as well.

    Ques. What are the reasons for rejection of JEE Application Form?

    Ans. Due to the following any one of the reason, the form might get rejected:

    1. An incomplete application form in any respect without uploading photo and signature
    2. An incomplete application form in respect of without fee payment will be rejected
    3. If the face of the candidate in the photograph or signature is unclear in the application, it may be rejected.

    Ques. What is the State Code of Eligibility that needs to be entered in JEE Main online form?

    Ans. The State Code of eligibility is the code of the state from where candidates have passed class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination. State of Eligibility is not applicable for candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO.

    Ques. While selecting the medium of examination, I opted for Hindi/Gujarati but now I wish to appear for JEE Main in English. What should I do?

    Ans. The paper of JEE Main 2020 will be bilingual i.e. it will be in Gujarati/English and Hindi/English for students opting for Gujarati/Hindi at the time of filling the form. Therefore, aspirants are not required to change the medium of language. The questions can be attempted in any medium during the examination.

    Ques. Is it necessary to put candidate’s name and date in the photograph? Would JEE Main 2020 application form be rejected?

    Ans. As per the official guidelines issued by NTA, it is mandatory to mention name and date on the passport sized photograph.

    Hi Sri, yes, uploading admit card of class 12th is necessary failing which, your candidature will get cancelled. However, if you have got the admit card at present, you may upload it using form-correction window which will get functional from March 8, 2020.
