Ques. What is the difference between the syllabus of the BITSAT and the JEE?

● Top Answer By Sunil Sharma on 16 Jan 21

Ans. There are mainly 3 engineering entrance exams in India for candidates looking forward towards top engineering institutes in India. It includes JEE Main, JEE Advanced and BITSAT. Frankly speaking there isn’t much difference in the syllabus of all these entrance exams. The main difference is BITSAT focuses more on the candidate's speed and accuracy and on the other hand JEE focuses more on deep understanding of concepts. Furthermore BITSAT includes English & Logical Reasoning as well which is not the part of JEE.  BITSAT -  It is an online admission test to get enrolled in engineering courses in different BITS colleges. It includes English and Logical Reasoning along with PCM. A total of 150 and 12 extra questions are provided. Only 2 attempts are given to clear BITSAT. Direct Admission is given to Board Toppers. Previous year’s questions are not available officially. JEE Main and Advanced -  JEE Main and Advanced are admission tests for engineering institutes like IIT, NIT, IISc, IISER, IIST, RGIPT, etc. Candidates need to appear in JEE Main to qualify for JEE Advanced. It only consists of PCM questions. No extra questions provided. Candidates can clear JEE Main in 3 and JEE Advanced in 2 attempts. Previous year’s question papers are easily available for practice.  JEE is slightly tougher than BITSAT as candidates need to have thorough knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects. The set time for any BITSAT candidate to mark the right answer is approx 72 second which is about 2 min in JEE. So if you’re preparing for JEE then you’ll automatically cover all BITSAT syllabus as well, but keep it in mind that you need to prepare for English & Logical Reasoning as well and for that you need to plan your time table accordingly. Read more

Ques. How many marks are required in JEE or GUJCET to get admission to PDPU Gandhinagar?

● Top Answer By Arunima Sethi on 14 Jan 21

Ans. The cut-off rank (or score) required for PDPU in JEE or GUJCET changes every year. The corresponding score and rank dependency is also different every year. The expected cut-off ranks for PDPU from JEE Main are listed below. Department JEE Main Cut-off(expected) Petroleum Engineering <56000 Computer Engineering <40000 Information and Communication Technology <52000 Chemical Engineering <65000 Mechanical Engineering <60000 Electrical Engineering <150000 Civil Engineering <150000 Key highlights: The score required varies on the overall performance and difficulty level of the question paper. One of my friends got admission in the Chemical Engineering branch with a 120 cutoff in JEE Main back in 2016. Chemical is among the fastest filling departments along with Petroleum and Computer Science. For GUJCET candidates, a score of around 95 should be sufficient for PDPU. For SC/ST candidates, even 85 would do the same. For JEE Main candidates, 130-150 is considered as a sufficient score for general students for getting the top branches in PDPU. The above ranks and cut-offs are assumptions and can be considered as tentative values.Read more

Ques. Is GATE easy or IIT JEE?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Dutta on 08 Jan 21

Ans. JEEs are exams that are conducted to select students who want admission to IITs or NITs. GATE, on the other hand, is used to select students who want to do master's or gain a job in PSUs. IIT JEE and GATE are very different exams. JEE is an undergraduate exam, whereas GATE is a graduate exam. Comparison: The competition for JEE is slightly higher than GATE since JEE is based on the same syllabus. In GATE, you have an option to choose between several papers. Although there is less competition in the GATE, if you do not have a rank under 1000, then it is likely that you will not get selected for PSUs or IITs. Almost everyone in the science branch will attempt IIT JEE after their schooling. GATE is only attempted by those who are interested in researching or to get high-level jobs in PSUs. You will need more revision for GATE, whereas JEE is more about logic- application. For GATE, Final year students will find it difficult to prepare since the syllabus is a lot more than their courses in college. IIT JEE syllabus is closely related to the 10+1 and 10+2 syllabus. This makes it easier for students appearing in board exams to prepare for IIT JEE JEE only the rank is considered for admission. However, for GATE, rank is not considered, instead, a normalized GATE score is chosen as the criteria which can be quite tricky. Further, different IITs might have their own separate exam and interview rounds. You will be able to secure admission into IITs only after clearing these rounds as well.Read more

AEEE and other exams also have a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. AEEE is a national level exam like the JEE. It consists of a major percentage of higher-order thinking questions. The paper is prepared, keeping in mind the students from the CBSE and ICSE boards. Students can compare the three examinations conveniently in the table below. Exams AEEE JEE BITSAT Total Marks 180 300 450 Total Questions 60 75 150 Duration (hours) 1.5 3-4 3 Subjects Physics, Chemistry, Maths Physics, Chemistry, Maths Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning Mode Both- P&P & CBT Computer-Based Computer-Based Negative Marking Yes Yes Yes Eligibility Criteria: Students aiming to take the BITSAT 2021 exam should have passed 12th level in 2020 with physics, chemistry, and maths and should have proficiency in the English language. The subject combination needed to sit for BTech in Physics, Mathematics, and anyone of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a vocational subject. To enroll in courses taught at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, students take the AEEE for which they should have been born on or after July 1, 2000. And should have procured at least 60% in physics Chemistry and maths. Sections and Marks Distribution: The AEEE is divided into three sections for physics, chemistry, and maths with 15, 15, and 30 MCQ questions from each making it a 60 in total. Students will get 3 marks for each correct answer. The 3 hours long JEE entrance is divided into 3 sections as well. Students will be tested through objective MCQs with 25 questions in each section for BE/BTech paper 1 making it 75 in total; 77 questions for the BArch program and 100 for the BPlan program. BITSAT on the other hand has 4 sections with 40 MCQs of physics in section 1; 40 of chemistry in section 2; 25 of English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning in section 3; and 45 questions of maths and biology in section 4.
