Karnataka PGCET Exam Pattern 2021 and Syllabus is released by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Karnataka PGCET syllabus is based on the undergraduate curriculum of each subject. The basic exam pattern for all the programs remains the same for Karnataka PGCET 2021

According to Karnataka PGCET Exam Pattern 2021, the exam is held as a Pen-paper test for a duration of 2 hours. There are 100 MCQs asked in English language only.

Karnataka PGCET 2021 will be conducted tentatively in the 1st week of July, 2021 for M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch and MCA/MBA.

Although the basic Karnataka PGCET Exam Pattern remains the same for each subject, the section below covers the exam pattern for each program in detail. 

PGCET Exam Pattern 2021 for M.E/M.Tech./ M.Arch. Courses

  • The exam will be held in two sessions separately for Type A and Type B.
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration of Exam: 150 minutes
  • Type of Questions: MCQs
  • The question paper will have four different versions.
  • Each question will have four different options.

M.Tech. Type A consists of questions for courses offered by VTU, UVCE and UBDTCE University while Type B consists of courses offered Kuvempa and Mysore University.

The examination is conducted for 9 disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Textile Engineering, Polymer Science, Architecture and Bio-Technology.

  • MCA PGCET Paper is divided into 2 parts- Part-A and Part-B
  • Each part is further divided into different sections.
  • Part A: Section- A- Proficiency in English Language Section-B- General Knowledge
  • Part-B: Section-A- Reasoning and General Intelligence Section-B- Quantitative Analysis

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Marking Scheme

The question paper for Karnataka PGCET consists of a total of 100 questions. The weightage for every part and section of the question paper differs from course to course. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions in Karnataka PGCET 2021. The general marking scheme applicable for different courses is tabulated below.

What is Type A and Type B in PGCET?

Type A is the courses offered by VTU, UVCE and UBDTCE Universities. Whereas, Type B are the courses offered by the Department of PG studies and research in Mathematics and Computer Science, Kuvempu University and Department of Studies in Computer Science, Mysore University.

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Type A

  • Candidates appearing for these courses must select the course code that they have opted for in PGCET as per the Course codes are given below:

  • Make note, it is the responsibility of the candidate to select the correct course code. KEA will not take the responsibility of changing the course code at a later date.
  • There will be a separate question paper for each course.
  • If a candidate enters the wrong course code then they will be provided with the question paper for that course only.

Further, for Type-A course Mechanical Science (Course code 06) includes the following branches. Students must select the course code as Mechanical Sciences.

  5. Manufacturing Science and Engineering

For Electrical Science (Course Code 07), the following branches are included:

  7. Allied Branches of Electrical Science

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Type B

There is only one course under this section. And the code and name is ‘11 – Mathematics and Computer Science’. 

Instructions 2021

Instructions to Fill Karnataka PGCET 2021 OMR Sheet

Candidates should adhere to some important instructions while filling Karnataka PGCET 2021 OMR Sheet to avoid any discrepancy

  • Candidates should use blue or black ballpoint pen only to avoid spillage while marking their answers on the OMR sheet.
  • Fill the circles completely to mark your responses as instructed on the OMR Sheet. 
  • Rough work or any stray marks on the OMR Sheet are strictly prohibited. The response is liable to be rejected in case of any smudges or stray marks.
  • Use the separate space at the back of the question paper for rough calculations, etc.
  • After completing their entrance test, candidates have to affix their left-hand thumb mark in the space provided. This has to be done before submitting the answer sheet
  • Once the exam is complete, candidates can carry the replica of the answer sheet with them. Later when the answer key is announced, candidates can cross-check the accuracy of their answers.
