    MAH B.Ed CET is an online computer based examination and will be conducted in English or Marathi Language. The 90 minutes test consists of three sections- Mental Ability, General Knowledge and Teacher Aptitude. Candidates have to choose the correct response from the 4 choices given for every question. 1 mark will be awarded to every right answer and there is no negative marking.

    Candidates have to apply for MAH B.Ed ELCT at the time of filling the MAH B.Ed CET Application Form, incase they want to take admission in English medium colleges.ELCT will be conducted in English language only.     MAH B.Ed CET 2020 Syllabus

    Candidates need to be aware of the subjects and sections involved in the examination and what each section is designed to test in the candidates. This will help candidates to tackle each section with the right approach at the time of preparation.

    The three constituent sections are

    1. Mental Ability
    2. General Awareness
    3. Teacher Aptitude

    The aspects of candidates that each of these sections test and the topics included in each of them as syllabus are discussed below.

    1. Mental Ability( 40% of net weightage)

    The Mental Ability Section is designed to test the reasoning abilities of candidates. It also determines the accuracy and the speed in logical reasoning of candidates. The questions are framed in a verbal or non verbal form.

    The topics from which questions will be framed for this section include

    • Series
    • Syllogism
    • Coding-Decoding
    • Relationships
    • Analogies
    • Classification
    • Problems on dice

    2. General Awareness (30% of net weightage)

    This section tests candidates’ knowledge regarding current local, national and international affairs.

    Apart from the current affairs, candidates are tested in a wide range of topics. These topics are

    • Past Events
    • Current Affairs and Science & Technology
    • History
    • Geography
    • Civics
    • Political Science
    • Literature and Education

    3. Teacher Aptitude (30% of net weightage)

    This section determines the candidates’ capabilities of becoming a teacher. It shall include

    • Keenness to update existing knowledge
    • Leadership qualities
    • Awareness about changes in society and education
    • Communication and professional commitment

    NOTE: For candidates seeking admissions into an English Medium College of Education, then English Language Content Test (ELCT) is a must. This 1 hour exam is designed to test the candidates in the various aspects surrounding the English Language. These include comprehension skills, grammar and vocabulary knowledge, sentence formation, knowledge of idioms and proverbs amongst other things.

    The ELCT is an online computer based test. Candidates need to be aware of the subjects and sections involved in the examination and what each section is designed to test in the candidates. This will help candidates to tackle each section with the right approach at the time of preparation.

    As already seen, the ELCT is a 1 hour examination comprising of seven sections.

    The 7 constituent sections are

    1. Reading Comprehension
    2. Vocabulary Focus
    3. Grammar Focus
    4. Sentence Formation
    5. Phonetics
    6. Verbal Idioms and Proverbs
    7. Figures of Speech

    The aspects of candidates that each of these sections test and the topics included in each of them as syllabus are discussed below.

    1. Reading Comprehension (Weightage 40%)

    This section tests the candidates understanding and comprehending skills of any given scenario. The topics or the scenarios which test the comprehending skills are represented as one of the following.

    • Prose
    • Picture
    • Poetry
    • Dialogue

    2. Vocabulary Focus (Weightage 10%)

    This section aims to determine the command candidates have over vocabulary. Candidates are tested in their knowledge of words with similar meanings, similar pronunciation, opposites and comparison of shades of meanings. The primary topics include

    • Spellings
    • Antonyms
    • Synonyms
    • Homonyms

    3. Grammar Focus (Weightage 16%)

    This section is designed to test candidates in their overall sense of grammar and application of the same in the given context. The 5 major topics included in this are

    • Punctuation
    • Articles
    • Prepositions
    • Conjunctions
    • Degree of adjectives

    4. Sentence Formation (Weightage 14%)

    This section comprises of questions that tests the candidates’ skills in rearranging a given sentence according to need, spotting the error and moving from one type of sentence to another. The three major areas include

    • Affirmative-Negative-Interrogative-Assertive-Exclamatory
    • Jumbled Sentences
    • Identifying errors in sentences

    5. Phonetics (weightage 6%)

    The section is designed to test the grip candidates have over the spoken language. Topics include

    • Accent
    • Phonetic Transcription
    • Intonation Pattern

    6. Verbal Idioms and Proverbs (Weightage 10%)

    This section primarily tests if candidates can differentiate to a satisfactory degree, the surface meaning and the inner meaning of the various idioms and proverbs. This section includes Verbal Idioms and Proverbs as a part of its syllabus.

    7. Figures of Speech

    This section judges the candidates’ ability to recognize the figure of speech from the given context. Questions will be framed from the following topics.

    • Simile
    • Metaphor
    • Climax

    • Alliteration
    • Repetition

    MAH B.Ed CET 2020: General Instructions

    1. MAH B.Ed CET and the ELCT are both online computer based tests.
    2. Aspirants can view the questions along with 4 choices, out of which only 1 is correct. Candidates must click on their most appropriate answer using the mouse.
    3. To the right of the screen, the status of the question can be seen as one of the following.
    • You have not visited the question yet
    • You have not answered the question yet
    • You have answered the question
    • You have not answered the question, but marked the question for review
    • You have answered the question, but marked it for review
    1. The question number can be clicked to go to the question bearing that number. Candidates can then select their response, followed by choosing either ‘Save and Next’ or ‘Mark for Review and Next’.
    2. ‘Mark for Review’ notifies candidates that they have chosen to come back and review the question at a later time.
    3.  In case the response needs to be changed, candidates can deselect their first response by clicking on the ‘Clear Response’ button. They can then choose the new response and use one of the above options (Save and next or Mark for review and next) to save their answer and move on to the next question.
    4. ‘Mark for Review’ just acts as a reminder. If an answer is already chosen and candidates do not come back to the question marked for review before the time is over, the answer initially chosen will be considered as final.
    5. Clicking on the ‘Save and Next’ button for the last question of a section, directs candidates to the first question of the next section. Candidates can alternate between sections and questions within the examination duration.
    6. Candidates can view the time left on the top right corner of the screen. Once the time is up, the test is automatically submitted. Candidates cannot ‘Finally Submit’ the test before the allotted time is over.
    7. Candidates are strictly advised against using keyboards in front of their systems during the entire duration of examination.

    Ans. The duration of MAH B.Ed CET 2020 is 90 mins and for ELCT test the duration is 60 mins.

    Ques.  Is the exam pattern for B.Ed CET and ELCT different?

    Ans. Yes the exam pattern for the tests is different. B.Ed CET includes 3 sections, whereas ELCT includes 7 sections.

    Ques.  What is the mode of Exam?

    Ans. Both the test B.Ed CET and ELCT will be conducted in online mode at the alloted test center. There is no provision for offline test.

    Ques.  What is the marking scheme?

    Ans. The marking scheme for MAH B.Ed CET and ELCT is the same. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and there is no negative marking.

    Hi Kinjal, Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for B. Ed is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Government of Maharashtra. MAH B.Ed CET 2018 is scheduled to be conducted on June 09 & 10, 2018 for the admission to the full time Bachelor of Education (B.Ed Regular) and B.Ed. in Special Education.
