MHT CET Score Normalization
MHT CET is scheduled to be conducted in multiple shifts. Despite all the efforts of maintaining an equivalence in the level of questions of the exam by MHT CET conducting body, there are chances that the level of difficulty is not the same in all the shifts. So to overcome this, the Normalization Method has been adopted.
- The same process is also adopted by other exams like CAT, GATE etc.
- The Percentile score will be the Normalized Score for the examination (instead of the raw marks of the candidate).
- The Percentile Scores will be calculated up to 7 decimal places to avoid bunching effect and reduce ties.
The Percentile score of a Candidate is calculated as follows:
100 * (No. of Candidates Appeared in the session with Raw Score <= the Candidate’s Score ) / Total no. of candidates in the session
3 Steps Procedure for Normalization and Preparation of Percentile Score
Step 1: Distribution of Examinees in two days and in two shifts per day
Candidates would be distributed into four sessions randomly so that each session has an approximately equal number of candidates.
Sessions | Days |
---|---|
Session 1 | Day 1, Shift 1 |
Session 2 | Day 1, Shift 2 |
Session 3 | Day 2, Shift 1 |
Session 4 | Day 2, Shift 2 |
Step-2: Preparation of Results for each Session
- The result for each session will be prepared in the form of Raw Scores and Percentile Score separately for each subject.
- The formula used will be the same as mentioned above.
Step 3: Compilation of Total Score
- The Percentile scores for the Total Raw Score for all the four sessions as calculated in Step-2 would be merged and will be called as CET scores which will then be used for the compilation of results.
Note: The Percentile of the total shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of individual subjects. Percentile score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.
