End Notes:

  • MICAT is a Computer Based Test (CBT) used for selection of PGDM-C 2019-2021 batch. It is conducted twice a year in over 48 cities across the country. Better of the two MICAT Scores is considered. A student may choose to write both MICAT I & II. Section A, B, and C of MICAT may not appear in the same order.
  • If a candidate has appeared for more than one exam (CAT, XAT and GMAT) the better of the two/ best of the three exams performance will be considered.

*Calculation of Normalized Scores:

  1. The score obtained individually by a candidate in a particular sub-section of MICAT-I/MICAT-II, e.g. Verbal Ability will be converted into a Normalized Score.
  • Scores will be normalized using appropriate statistical methods by considering scores of all qualifying candidates up to the stage applicable to the candidate. Normalized scores will be calculated for each sub section separately.

  1. Total MICAT-I/MICAT-II score will also be Normalized using appropriate statistical methods.

Note:

  • The exact cut-offs mentioned above are based on previous years’ MICAT data and this may vary year to year. In view of this fact the Admissions Committee of MICA reserves the right of changing the same if deemed desirable in the light of the data.
  • Approximately 1/10th of the total number of candidates who appear in the two MICATs will be shortlisted for GE & PI based on CAT/XAT/ GMAT and the total MICAT Score.

FAQs Related to MICAT 2019 Selection Process

Ques. What is the weightage of CAT/XAT marks in MICA conversion?

Ans. There is no weightage accorded to performance in CAT, XAT, GMAT in the computation of the composite score used for ranking. CAT/XAT/GMAT are the qualifying examinations to be eligible for admission to MICA. However, those who are given confirmed offers (known as ‘spot offers’ earlier) need to be amongst top 10 percent of the candidates based on their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT out of all the candidates who appear in MICAT.

Ques. Why is it that CAT/XAT scores are asked at the time MICAT II application and not during the MICAT I application?

Ans. At the time of conducting MICAT – I, the results of these entrance exams are not usually available and hence the scores are not asked. Those who appear for MICAT – I need to update their CAT/XAT/GMAT scores as and when they are available within the given deadline.

  • For those appearing for MICAT – II, the scores are asked since they are already available by then.

Ques. Do students with low CAT score like 70 percentile have the chance of being shortlisted if their MICAT exam goes well.

Ans. MICA does not consider performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT for the purpose of shortlisting for GE-PI or for the purpose of computation of the composite score.

  • The shortlisting for the GE-PI process is based purely on the candidate’s performance in MICAT.
  • As explained, CAT/XAT/GMAT performance has no bearing on the process of shortlisting of GE-PI. Those appearing for MICAT – II are called for the GE-PI process based on their performance in MICAT – II only.
