NEET PG 2019 Exam Pattern; No. of Questions, Marking scheme, Books, Syllabus

NBE will conduct the postgraduate entrance examination on January 6 in online mode. NEET PG exam will contain 300 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with only 3 hours 30 minutes to complete it. NEET PG 2019 will be conducted on January 6, 2019 across 41 cities.   • Mode: The exam will be held in online mode (computer-based test).
  • Session: The examination will be organized on a single day in a single session.
  • Number of Questions: In the examination, total 300 multiple choice type questions will be asked.
  • Medium: The question paper will be asked in English language only.
  • Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours 30 minutes.
  • Marking Scheme: For the correct answer, four marks will be allotted to the candidates.
  • Negative Marking: There will be 25% (one mark) negative marking in the wrong answer.

What’s New introduced in NEET PG Exam Pattern 2019?

In the year 2018, NBE bought some new changes in the exam pattern of NEET PG, which are expected to be continued this year as well. The new changed introduced last year are listed below.

  • NEET PG will be a single session examination conducted in online mode.
  • The negative marking was introduced in NEET PG exam pattern. From last year, 1 mark was deducted for a wrong attempt

NEET PG 2019 Exam Pattern in Detail

NEET PG 2019 test will be computer based and will have objective type multiple questions. Candidates have to complete the test within the estimated time i.e. 3 hr 30 min. Candidate will get one mark for each correct answer and there will be no negative marking for the wrong answer. There will be total 300 questions and the candidate can score maximum 300 marks in the exam.

  • Candidates are required to accept a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before starting the examination.
  • Candidates will get the benefit of Demo Test 15 minutes before starting the examination which will give them the complete idea about the structure of the original NEET-PG Exam Pattern and candidate may navigate between the questions via the Review Screen.
  • All the subjects taught in the MBBS course will come in the exam including para-clinical, pre-clinical and clinical.

Pattern of Demo Test

The Demo test will be a sample of on-line exam that is conducted to guide the candidates with the navigation and functionality of the NEET PG Exam. It is a tutorial that focuses on using the features of the test like navigating between screens, selecting, de-selecting, reviewing and marking responses etc., it also includes some demo questions which will help the candidates to practice these features. Candidates must know that these demo questions do not represent the difficulty level of the actual test.

15 minutes Tutorial

The 15 minutes tutorial contains a series of screens that will guide the candidate to attempt NEET-PG computer based test. This tutorial will give a chance to the candidate to try all the features, such as navigating between questions, select, de-select, review, mark and change responses etc. Candidates are advised to go through the entire tutorial of 15 minutes before starting the actual exam. After completing the tutorial, candidates have to accept a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before starting the test.

Scheme of Examination

It is very important to note that candidates may appear for NEET PG exam either in Forenoon Session or in Afternoon Session but they cannot appear in both sessions.

NEET-PG exam follows the syllabus formulated as per Graduate Medical Education Regulations notified by the Medical Council of India. The candidates have to prepare for subjects, they have studied during MBBS.  The subject-wise distribution of questions is given below in the table:

NEET PG 2019 Syllabus

The syllabus of the NEET PG 2019 entrance exam comprises of all the subjects that were in the candidate’s syllabus while studying MBBS and BDS programs. NEET PG 2019 Exam Day Instructions

  • On the day of the exam, candidates must follow the rules and regulations of the exam and maintain decorum for the exam to be carried out smoothly.
  • Candidates must make a note of the exam session - Forenoon session or Afternoon session very carefully and report to the exam center accordingly.
  • Candidates must report to the exam hall at least 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the exam.
  • Candidates must carry a printout of the admit card and a valid photo identity proof at all times during the exam.
