    a block of mass 10kg is moving in x-direction with a constant speed of 10m/s.It is subjected to a regarding force F=-0.1x J/m during its travel from x=20m to x=30m.It's final kinetic energy will be?

    19 Apr, 2017 00:20

    Hi Mounica, Please find the answer to your query below.

    The equation of motion of block moving with velocity 10 m/s and de-acceleration A = 0.1x/m = 0.1x/10 = 0.01x m/s2 is given by,

    v2 = 102 – 2 x 0.01 \(\int\limits_{20}^{30}\mathrm{0.1x}\,\mathrm{d}x\) = 100 – 0.02 [x2/2]
        = 100 – 0.01[302-202] = 100 – 0.01[900-400] = 100 – 5 = 95
    v2 = 95
    and  ½ mv2 = ½ x 10 x 95 = 475 J

    Therefore final kinetic energy = 475 J
