NMAT Language SKill Pattern

NMAT Exam Pattern 2021: Language Skills

As per the official notification, the Language Skills section of NMAT 2021 Exam comprises 36 questions. A candidate will have to complete this section within 28 minutes and then move to the other section. The score range for the same varies from 12-120, depending upon the types of questions asked and overall preparation of the candidates.

  • This section checks the Candidate's command of the English Language which is really important to get a seat in any B-School. A candidate who is well-versed in English can easily get admission to a top-level college.
  • As the time duration of this section is 28 minutes which is the least as compared to the other two sections. So, candidates should practice solving various Mock Tests well in advance in a time-bound manner.
  • It is crucial to understand various topics under the Language Skills Section which are asked in the exam. Various topics under English Skills are mentioned below:
  1. Para Forming
  2. Sentence Completion
  3. Analogies
  4. Reading Comprehension
  5. Error Identification Prepositions

Since the above-mentioned topics constitute basic level English, candidates should consult some good grammar and comprehension books. Apart from that, one can also solve some mock papers to get further insights into the kinds of questions asked in NMAT 2021 Exam. Remember, practice is the key here!

NMAT Quantitative Skills Pattern

NMAT Exam Pattern 2021: Quantitative Skills

The Quantitative Skills Section comprises 36 questions and the time limit to solve them is fifty-two minutes. As this section constitutes mathematical calculation, the candidate must learn certain shortcut tricks to solve various math problems, otherwise, it would be difficult to complete this section on time.

The score range for Quantitative Skills varies from 12-120. Please remember that the questions asked in the exam are taken from a pool of questions. It means a candidate who is well-versed with the concepts will get questions aligning with his knowledge, so the questions may be a bit difficult. But it is advised to focus on the exam preparation rather than worrying about what kind of questions will be asked during the exam!

A detailed list of topics under Quantitative Skills that need to be studied are mentioned below:

  1. Arithmetic
  2. Data Interpretation Caselets and Tables
  3. Number Properties
  4. Probability and Algebra
  5. Data Sufficiency
  6. Data Interpretation Charts and Graphs

As the majority of the topics comprise Xth-XIIth standard mathematics, candidates should prepare from those books accordingly. It is the scoring section if certain tricks are implemented to various problems. No doubt, it is a bit time-consuming but shortcut tricks will help to save time, and thus, one can score well. Smart work and patience are the keys here!

NMAT Logical Reasoning Pattern

NMAT Exam Pattern 2021: Logical Reasoning

Logical Reasoning constitutes 36 questions and the score range for the same range from 12-120. The time duration to solve this section is 40 minutes. Various topics that are mentioned under Logical Reasoning are given below:

  1. Analytical Puzzle
  2. Critical Reasoning
  3. Deductions
  4. And other topics that can be covered under Logical Reasoning

From the above-mentioned sub-topics, it is clear that the syllabus of Logical Reasoning is not well-defined as other topics can also be included under this section. So, candidates should prepare but not restrict their preparation to the above-mentioned topics. Thus, it is advisable to check out a few mock papers and ask for guidance from your seniors who have already appeared in the exam.

As there is leverage to attempt the test even at the comfort of your home, candidates should only focus on preparing for the NMAT Exam. It isn’t impossible to crack! One just needs to be consistent and solve as many Mock Test papers as possible. And you are good to go!

Ques. I got 222 in my NMAT exam, what is my conversion chance for NMIMS Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Ria Dhar on 28 May 21

Ans. One of my friends also opted for conversion. According to him, in recent year's cut-offs, chances of anyone to be shortlisted would be possible if you manage to score around 207-209.  This goes for sectional cut-offs too, like-  Sections Cut off Logical Reasoning 60-61 QA 72-74 Verbal 55-56 If I assume that you have already managed to clear these cut-offs (sectional or non-sectional) and have a good score of 222, chances of converting your call are really, really high.  Read the following points to understand how your NMAT score would not be an exclusive aspect if you really want to pursue a course at NMIMS.  The entire admission process encompasses various factors. Like your academic background, work experience, case discussion, and eventually a personal interview round.  The selection aspect includes the NMAT score. But students with a low score have not managed to make it.  This also proves how you have to have a good Case Discussion and Personal Interview (CDPI) score to eventually make it.  There have been instances where the students have managed to score pretty well. But since they didn't perform well in their CDPI, they could not convert the call. Although, in 2020 the NMAT Exam Pattern has changed itself a bit. The time limit is just the same. The number of questions has been lessened. Expect the NMAT cut-off to surge. There also have been speculations that the number of questions would be unknown making the NMAT exam cut-off pointless to assume already.Read more

Ques. How difficult is the post-NMAT process at NMIMS Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Anisha Basu on 15 May 21

Ans. Post NMAT process at NMIMS Mumbai includes Writing SOP, CD and PI. The following points are based on my sister’s experience at the institute: CD: Case Discussion is like a group discussion but very different from it.  A structured analysis of a particular circumstance is given as a case.  To clear, the CD makes sure the student makes 2-3 meaningful entries in 15 mins. If the case is long and you are in between the first two persons to speak, make sure to crisply present the problem.  You will be needed to give a clear direction and structure to the problem. SOP & PI: The panel will have your Statement of Purpose. SOP is a representation of the best qualities, journey and achievements with importance on why you yearn to pursue an MBA in NMIMS.  The SOP should be well structured and best described.  You need to make your stories fall in place.  Questions relevant to work experience, previous projects, or internships are usually asked in PI.  Apart from that, some interviewees might end up asking random abstract questions just to check the presence of mind and thought process. A standard interview serves for about 20 to 25 minutes but it depends on the Panel.Read more

Ques. Can I get a call from ximb with 192 NMAT?

● Top Answer By Nitin Ghosal on 20 Apr 21

Ans. Since the cut-offs range around and over 190+, there is a vivid chance of you getting the admission call from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar (XIMB). If you in any chance put your target for the XIMB-HR department, then you should definitely make sure to obtain a good scoring in the LS section of NMAT, which is basically the Language Section.  Revised in 2020 by GMAC, NMAT is supposed to be centered around having 12 questions less when compared to 2019.  As also mentioned by a friend who appeared in NMAT, is to prepare thoroughly for the GD-PI section which certainly can fetch you XIMB. It is because your score is just above the cutoff, and an additional good GD-PI is supposed to affect your score on the upper side of the hill.  The scoring rate and other relative factors are subjected to vary as per guidelines, and the year date. The NMAT score for XIMB from the past year was estimated at a different rate. The outlook of which is mentioned beneath: Look at the various cut-off ranges, that similarly are subject to change each year, as per criterion. The following data is: HRM - 87 percentile, or 190–200 RM - 70 percentile, or 150–170 Although, the high chance of getting a seat in the institution somewhat depends on the GD-PI, and interview.Read more

Hi, As compared to CAT, XAT, and other such MBA examsNMAT is definitely easier; but it is not the easiest to crack. The reason being: time! NMAT is essentially a time-based test, and you have to be very quick in attempting the maximum number of correct questions, if not all.
