The candidates who are planning to appear for NMAT 2021 have almost a year to prepare for the exam. But when you start preparing even 1 year seems to be too short to complete the syllabus if the student has not planned their preparatory journey. The candidates have to study in a smart and effective way to bring the best within the time they have. So below are some of the tips to plan your preparatory journey for NMAT.
The first thing that should be done when you decide to appear for NMAT or any other competitive exam is to know the syllabus. Figure out the topics from which more questions are asked and the topics from which very few questions are asked or the topics from which no questions have been asked for years. This will help you segregate important topics and less important topics. According to this, you can plan which topics to be prepared before and on which topics more time should be spent.
Time management is not only required during the exam but also during the preparation of the exam. Preparing a timetable can be helpful. The preparation can be completed in 3 months, 6 months or can take up to 1 year, depending upon how you plan. The timetable should not only include the completions of topics but it should also include the time for practice, mock tests, and revision.
Conceptual clarity is very important. You don’t know how twisted the question may be asked in the examination. But if your basics are clear then you may find a way to untwist the question and find the correct answer.
You can join coaching classes or can prepare by yourself with the help of books and videos. You can just take crash courses if you don’t want to take the year-long coaching classes. It totally depends on the candidate to choose what can work best for them. Sometimes the student keeps on going to the coaching classes but they don’t find time for self-study. In such cases, crash courses can be best, where the concepts will be cleared in the minimum required time and the student can spend more time practicing and taking mock tests. Try to complete the theories as early as possible and spend more time on solving and practicing the sample papers.
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is an important part of preparation. When you know which topics are easy for you to understand and solve, then they are your strengths. You can spend less time on them during the preparation. And they will help you increase scores in the examination.
The topics that are tough for you to understand and solve are your weaknesses. We usually try to skip or pay less attention to the topics that are tough. But these topics can be important topics and can hold more questions in the examination. So rather than skipping them, we should try to spend more time on them. This will help you to minimize the number of wrong answers and unattempted questions in the examination. So know your strengths and weaknesses and plan your timetable according to it.
Time management is very crucial during the examination. NMAT has sectional timing and you need to try your best to attempt each and every question. You have to find the correct answer in the minimum time possible. Coaching classes teach the students with some tricks to solve questions quickly. You can also find videos for such tricks and shortcuts on youtube. Knowing some of these can be beneficial.
Practice as much as you can. Practice will help you increase your speed in solving questions. Practice will also help you figure out how clear your basics are. Solve the sample papers and previous year questions papers to get an idea of what type of questions are asked in the examination. It will help you understand the question pattern, help you to revise, will increase your speed, and boosts confidence.
A mock test is like real exams, where you have to solve the question paper in the required time. This helps you analyze the level of your preparation and highlights the areas of improvement. You can figure out your solving speed, topics you are unable to solve, expected scores, etc. With this, you can improve the areas where you are weak.
NMAT by GMAC offers an official preparation for the exam. The students can also take this and figure out how good they are with their preparation.
Before you start a new day, revise what you have studied the previous day. When you start learning new topics every day, there are high chances of forgetting the old topics. Revise the topics every day. Just make a quick look through all the topics you have studied. Don't spend much time on these, just take a quick look and move forward.
There are apps that help the candidates to prepare for different exams. The apps that help to prepare for management entrance exams offer sample papers, previous year question papers, and conduct mock tests and to prepare the students for different exams. These apps also analyze the performance of the candidates and highlight the weak points. Some of the android or iOs apps for preparation of NMAT are:
