NTSE 2018 Application Form

NTSE 2018 Application Form will release in 2nd week of September 2017. Candidates can register in either online or offline mode. Application form will be distributed separately by different states. Last date of application submission also varies from state to state.

  • To apply online, visit the official website of NTSE i.e., enter details and pay the requisite fee.
  • To apply offline, candidates can obtain the printed application form from the office of admission portal. 
  • NTSE 2018 stage 1, is scheduled to be conducted on November 04 & 05, 2017.
  • A minimum of 60% marks Class IX is required. SC, ST and PH candidates will need 55% marks in Class IX. Check Eligibility for NTSE 2018
  • For NTSE Stage 2, candidates will need 80% marks or above in the State level exam, to be considered eligible.
  • Indian students do not have to fill any application form for NTSE Stage 2 examination.
  • NCERT will send the roll number and exam center of NTSE Stage 2 examination via post, only those who have cleared NTSE Stage 1.
  • Indian students who are studying abroad in Class 10 can appear for NTSE Stage 2 examination directly under the conditions stated in NTSE 2018 brochure.

NTSE 2018 Application Dates

Candidates who want to get scholarship for their higher studies must apply for NTSE 2018. Interested candidates must know all the important dates related to the examination. The application dates for NTSE 2018 are listed in the table below:

How to Fill NTSE 2018 Application Form?

NTSE 2018 Application Form will be distributed by different states differently. Candidates have to apply for NTSE Stage 1 examination as per the circular or advertisement issued by the respective state/UT government. The application form along with the application fee has to be submitted to the Liaison officer of the respective state/UT as and when stated in the circular.

The guidelines for filling NTSE 2018 Application Form are listed below:

  1. Visit the official website of NCERT-
  2. Go to “Programs” tab and click on the link that says “National Talent Search Examination”.
  3. A link for “Application Form for NTSE 2018” will be given, click on it.
  4. The application form will be immediately downloaded in a pdf file.

Note: Candidates must confirm from the State/UT liaison officer about the deadline of form submission and where to submit it.

Fill NTSE 2018 Application Form

  • Once you obtain NTSE 2018 Application Form in printed form, fill in the required details carefully.
  • The information pertaining to candidate’s personal details, academic details and contact details shall be entered.
  • Candidates should not send the application form to NCERT. They should send it to the address prescribed by the State/UT liaison officer.

Application Fee Payment and Form Submission

  • Get the application form signed by the head of the institution after filling it.
  • Candidates do not have to fill the 4-digit center code in the application form. It will be filled by the liaison officer.
  • Candidates are advised to refer the application form published by the UTs/States for caste category reservation.
  • Deposit the application fee along with the application form as prescribed by the State/UT liaison officer.
  • Indian students who are studying abroad need to fill the application form and send to NCERT along with their mark sheet of Class IX examination by March 31, 2018 for consideration.
  • Indian students who are studying abroad must mention in the covering letter the name of the State/UT where they want to appear for NTSE examination.

Candidates must be very careful while filling NTSE 2018 Application Form so that their forms don’t get cancelled by the conducting authority. The various details that are asked on the application form are listed below:

Candidates also need to paste their recent passport size photograph on the space provided in the application form. There is a small section in the application form which should be filled and signed by the school principal or the head of the institution. Candidates also need to sign on the application form.

Ques. Where will I get the application form?

Ans. NTSE 2018 Application Form will be available on the official website of NCERT ( Candidates can also obtain the application form from the State/UT Liaison officer.

Ques. Why should I apply for NTSE?

Ans. Candidates apply for NTSE to get scholarship for higher studies. The primary objective of NCERT to conduct this examination is to identify intelligent students with high academic talent and help them succeed by providing scholarship.

Ques. I belong to OBC category. Can I apply?

Ans. Yes. You can apply. However, candidates are advised to refer the application form for caste category reservation. Some options of category such as OBC given in the application form are applicable only for the respective State/UT.

Ques. Is my photograph needed while filling the application form?

Ans. Yes. You have to paste a recent passport size photograph of yours in the space provided in the application form.

Ques. When is the deadline for application form submission?

Ans. The last date for submitting NTSE 2018 Application Form varies from state to state. Candidates will be notified about the deadline by the respective State/UT.

Hi Flash,  You can appear for the NTSE only if  you are an Indian national or a candidate of Indian origin  The candidates who are pursuing class 10 from open school can appear for the exam.candidates who are in class IX can also appear for the NTSE 2018. The candidate must clear the class IX exam with 60 % marks. The NTSE reservation policy is same for all the candidates. The percentage reservation offered remains same for the candidates studying in India or abroad. The candidates must be clear that the eligibility criteria for both stage 1 and stage 2 are different.

Stage 1:-

  • The NTSE exam requires candidates to be registered with the State/UT exam conducting body. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
  • The candidates who are in class X can also apply for the test.
  • The candidates who wish to give NTSE exam in class X must have cleared class IX examination from a recognized board. The candidate must have completed the class IX examination with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • The candidates must have obtained degree recognized by the board.
  • The students who have completed/appearing for class 10th examination and are registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) can appear for the NTSE exam. The candidate must be below 18 years of age and must not be employed. 

Stage 2:-

  • Students who have secured 80% marks in state board are eligible for stage 2 of the NTSE exam.
  • Every year around 4000 candidates appears for the stage 2 of the NTSE exam.  The candidates who clear the NTSE stage 2 with the minimum marks defined are eligible for scholarships.

Hello Rohit, You can download NTSE Admit Card from the respective website of state authority. The hall ticket will also be sent via post by the chief superintendent of the state
