SSC CHSL Syllabus 2018

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released SSC CHSL Syllabus 2017 on its official website along with the notification. The syllabus for SSC CHSL is decided by SSC. Check detailed SSC CHSL 2017 Syllabus here.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 is an online examination consisting of different subjects, while Tier 2 is a descriptive paper to be answered in Hindi and English language. Tier 3 is only qualifying test. Candidates have to secure minimum cut-off marks in both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 in order to get qualified.

  • Questions in Tier 1 – General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language- 25 multiple choice questions from each section. Read About SSC CHSL 2017 Exam Pattern
  • Questions in Tier 2 – Tier 2 Paper will be in Pen and Paper Mode which comprise Essay writing: 200- 250 words and Letter/ Application writing: 150-200 words
  • Tier 3 –  It would be the Skill Test/ Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature.

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2018 for Tier 1

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2017 for Tier 1 is conducted in online mode and questions are objective in nature. Questions in General Intelligence, General Awareness and English section are of 10+2 level while questions in Quantitative Aptitude are of 10th standard. Detailed SSC CHSL Syllabus 2018 – General Intelligence Section

AnalogyQuestions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, and Figural Analogy
Number/Alphanumeric SeriesQuestions on Semantic Series, Number Series, and Figural Series.
SyllogismSyllogism is a form of reasoning in which a conclusion is drawn from two or three given statements. You can use Venn diagram for these questions.

Quantitative Aptitude is the calculative section of Tier 1 of SSC CHSL 2017 containing mathematics questions. This part is asked from CBSE class 10 maths syllabus. The focus on basic arithmetic and algebra is must.

Detailed SSC CHSL Syllabus 2018 – English Section

English section tests candidates’ understanding of the language through assortment of questions comprising of both grammar and comprehension based questions.

Important topics in English section are:

English LanguageTypes of questions will be related to usage of English Language. Topics are Spot the Error, fill in the Blanks, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage
VocabularyQuestions will be from topics like Synonyms/ Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting misspelt words, Idioms & Phrases, and One-word substitution
GrammarQuestions will be on Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration
Reading ComprehensionThere will be Comprehension Passage based on which 3 to 5 questions will be asked. This is very simple and scoring section

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2018 for Tier 2

Tier 2 of SSC CHSL is conducted in Pen and Paper Mode. This paper assesses the writing skills of the candidates. The Paper comprises writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/ Application of approx. 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier 2 would be 33 percent and the score in Tier 2 would be included in merit. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier 3

Tier 3 of SSC CHSL 2017 would be the skill test or typing test which would be of qualifying nature. Skill Test/ Typing Test would be in accordance to job profile.
