SSC CHSL 2019 SYLLABUS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released SSC CHSL Syllabus 2017 on its official website along with the notification. The syllabus for SSC CHSL is decided by SSC. Check detailed SSC CHSL 2017 Syllabus here.
SSC CHSL Tier 1 is an online examination consisting of different subjects, while Tier 2 is a descriptive paper to be answered in Hindi and English language. Tier 3 is only qualifying test. Candidates have to secure minimum cut-off marks in both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 in order to get qualified.
SSC CHSL Syllabus 2017 for Tier 1 is conducted in online mode and questions are objective in nature. Questions in General Intelligence, General Awareness and English section are of 10+2 level while questions in Quantitative Aptitude are of 10th standard. The section aims to test the logical reasoning capacity of a candidate. Both, verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions are asked in this section. The questions are focused heavily on decision making, analogy, series and intelligence. Check SSC CHSL 2017 Preparation for Tier 1

|Analogy||Questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, and Figural Analogy|
|Number/Alphanumeric Series||Questions on Semantic Series, Number Series, and Figural Series.|
|Syllogism||Syllogism is a form of reasoning in which a conclusion is drawn from two or three given statements. You can use Venn diagram for these questions.|
|Direction/Ranking||Questions based on direction sense|
|Non-Verbal Reasoning||Questions based on Paper Cutting, Cubes and Dice, Grouping of Images and Figure Matrix|
|Miscellaneous||Odd One Out, Coding and de-coding, Embedded figures, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, etc.|

The test will include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research. Following are some important topics:
Quantitative Aptitude is the calculative section of Tier 1 of SSC CHSL 2017 containing mathematics questions. This part is asked from CBSE class 10 maths syllabus. The focus on basic arithmetic and algebra is must.
Important topics for this section are as follows:
|Arithmetic||Questions are from Number Systems, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work|
|Algebra||basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds and Graphs of Linear Equations|
|Geometry||Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles|
|Mensuration||Problems based on any of Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base|
|Trigonometry||trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances and Standard Identities like sin2 + Cos2 =1|
English section tests candidates’ understanding of the language through assortment of questions comprising of both grammar and comprehension based questions.
Important topics in English section are:
|English Language||Types of questions will be related to usage of English Language. Topics are Spot the Error, fill in the Blanks, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage|
|Vocabulary||Questions will be from topics like Synonyms/ Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting misspelt words, Idioms & Phrases, and One-word substitution|
|Grammar||Questions will be on Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration|
|Reading Comprehension||There will be Comprehension Passage based on which 3 to 5 questions will be asked. This is very simple and scoring section|
Tier 2 of SSC CHSL is conducted in Pen and Paper Mode. This paper assesses the writing skills of the candidates. The Paper comprises writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/ Application of approx. 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier 2 would be 33 percent and the score in Tier 2 would be included in merit. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.

Tier 3 of SSC CHSL 2017 would be the skill test or typing test which would be of qualifying nature. Skill Test/ Typing Test would be in accordance to job profile.
