What is TBSE?

TBSE stands for Tripura Board of Secondary Education. It is the official state-level authority responsible for conducting secondary and higher secondary board examinations in Tripura. The board was established under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education Act, 1973, and started conducting exams in 1976.

TBSE conducts two main annual board examinations:

• Madhyamik (Class 10): The secondary level board examination for students in Class 10 across all TBSE-affiliated schools in Tripura
• Higher Secondary / HS (Class 12): The higher secondary examination available in Science, Commerce, and Arts streams

In addition to these, TBSE also conducts the Madrassa Alim examination (equivalent to Class 10) and the Madrassa Fazil examination in Theology and Arts streams (equivalent to Class 12). Compartment examinations, known as Bachhar Bachao, are held separately for students who fail in one or two subjects.

In 2026, more than 68,000 students registered for TBSE board exams — 38,135 for Madhyamik and 29,943 for Higher Secondary. TBSE has not yet released the official 2027 timetable. The exam routine is typically published in November each year. All dates below are expected based on the TBSE Annual Academic Calendar 2026–27 — already published on the official website — and patterns from previous years.

TBSE 2027 Registration

TBSE does not accept direct applications from students. You must register through your school. Your school collects the required documents, fills in the registration details, and submits them to the TBSE office in Agartala on your behalf.

The registration window for the 2027 exams (2026–27 academic session) is expected to be open right now, in September–October 2026. If you are in Class 10 or Class 12 this year, you should check with your school whether your registration has been submitted.

Documents Required for TBSE Registration

• Birth Certificate: For age proof and date of birth verification
• Previous Class Marksheet: Class 9 marksheet for Madhyamik registration; Class 10 pass certificate and Class 11 marksheet for HS registration

TBSE 2027 Registration Fee

The registration fee is collected and paid by your school to TBSE on your behalf. TBSE revised its fee structure in 2025. You should check with your school for the exact fee applicable for the 2026–27 session, as it may vary by class, stream, and category.

Madrassa Alim and Fazil Registration

Students appearing for the Madrassa Alim (Class 10 equivalent) and Madrassa Fazil (Class 12 equivalent) examinations also follow the same school-based registration process under TBSE. Their exam timetable runs parallel to the Madhyamik and HS schedules, with the Alim exam dates matching Madhyamik and Fazil dates matching HS.

The TBSE HS syllabus broadly follows the NCERT Class 12 framework, with Tripura-specific regional content additions in select subjects:

TBSE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Your school checks your eligibility before submitting your TBSE 2027 registration. Here are the requirements for each exam:

Madhyamik (Class 10) Eligibility

• Academic Qualification: You must have passed Class 9 from a TBSE-affiliated school or a recognized board
• School Enrollment: You must be currently enrolled in Class 10 at a school recognized and affiliated with TBSE
• Attendance: Minimum 75% attendance in Class 10 is required to sit for the board exam
• No Private Candidature: TBSE does not allow private candidates — you must appear through a school

Higher Secondary (Class 12) Eligibility

• Academic Qualification: You must have passed Madhyamik (Class 10) from TBSE or an equivalent board recognized by the Government of Tripura
• Stream Enrollment: You must be enrolled in your chosen stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts) from Class 11 at a TBSE-affiliated school
• Attendance: Minimum 75% attendance in both Class 11 and Class 12 is required

Compartment Exam (Bachhar Bachao) Eligibility

• Madhyamik: Students who failed in a maximum of 2 subjects while passing the rest are eligible for Bachhar Bachao
• Higher Secondary: Students who failed in exactly 1 subject while passing all other subjects are eligible
• Students who fail in 3 or more subjects (Madhyamik) or 2 or more subjects (HS) must repeat the full academic year and are not eligible for Bachhar Bachao

Students who fail to meet the 75% attendance requirement may be barred from the board exam, even if their registration has already been submitted. This decision rests with the school and TBSE.

TBSE 2027 Admit Card

TBSE does not distribute admit cards directly to students. Your school will receive admit cards from TBSE and distribute them to you. This is the standard process followed every year — there is no self-download option from the official website.

For TBSE 2027, admit cards are expected in the second week of February 2027. In 2026, they were released around February 18, 2026 — 8 days before exams started on February 25–26. So for 2027, you can expect to receive your admit card from school approximately 8–10 days before exams begin.

What to Do If There Is an Error on the Admit Card

Check your admit card carefully as soon as you receive it. If you find any error — such as a wrong name spelling, wrong date of birth, or wrong photograph — inform your school immediately. Your school will contact the TBSE district office for correction. All errors must be corrected before exams begin; TBSE does not accept correction requests once the examination starts.

You must carry your TBSE admit card to every theory exam paper. Entry into the exam hall is not permitted without a valid admit card.

TBSE 2027 Result

The TBSE 2027 result for both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary is expected in May 2027. In 2026, both results were declared together on May 8, 2026, at 12:30 PM. In 2025, the results came on April 30. Following this two-year pattern, TBSE 2027 results should arrive between late April and the second week of May 2027.

What Your TBSE Result Shows

When the result is declared, your TBSE marksheet will contain:

• Marks obtained in each subject — theory and internal/practical components shown separately
• Total marks and overall percentage
• Grade for each subject using the 8-point scale (A1 to E)
• Overall result status: Pass, Compartment (eligible for Bachhar Bachao), or Fail

Top 20 Percentile List and Answer Script Review

After results are declared, TBSE publishes a Top 20 Percentile List for both Madhyamik and HS. Many central universities use this list for admission through CUET or their own processes. If you score among the top 20% of students in your stream, your name will appear on this list, which is available on the official TBSE website.

TBSE also offers a self-inspection of answer scripts and a re-totalling mechanism for students who want to verify their marks. If you wish to apply, you must do so within the deadline TBSE announces after result declaration. Applications are submitted through your school.

TBSE 2027 Grading System

TBSE uses an 8-point grading system for both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations. Each subject is assessed out of 100 marks (combining theory and internal/practical). Your grade for each subject is based on your total marks in that subject.

What Grade Should You Aim For?

Grade D (33–40 marks) is a passing grade, but it limits your stream choices for Class 11 and college admission. Most science and commerce programmes at colleges in Tripura look for Grade B2 or above — meaning at least 61 marks per subject. If you are targeting Science stream for Class 11, aim for Grade B1 or higher (71+) in Mathematics and Science.

Grade E in any subject means you have failed that subject. Depending on how many subjects you fail in, you may be eligible for the Bachhar Bachao compartment exam or may have to repeat the full year. See the Eligibility section for the subject-count rules.

TBSE 2027 Compartment Exam (Bachhar Bachao)

TBSE runs a compartment examination called Bachhar Bachao, which translates roughly to "save the year." It gives students who narrowly fail the main board exam a second chance to pass without repeating the full academic year.

Who Can Appear for Bachhar Bachao 2027?

• Madhyamik (Class 10): Students who failed in a maximum of 2 subjects while passing all remaining subjects
• Higher Secondary (Class 12): Students who failed in exactly 1 subject while passing all other subjects
• Students who fail in 3 or more subjects in Madhyamik, or in 2 or more subjects in HS, are not eligible for Bachhar Bachao and must repeat the academic year

Bachhar Bachao 2027 Expected Schedule

The Bachhar Bachao exam covers only the subject(s) in which you failed. You appear for the full paper of that subject — both theory and practical, if applicable — in the same offline format as the main board exam.

If you pass Bachhar Bachao, TBSE issues a revised marksheet with your updated result. Madhyamik passers can then proceed to Class 11 enrolment; HS passers can apply to college.

How to Check TBSE 2027 Result Online

When TBSE declares the 2027 result in May 2027, you can check it online through the official results portal. Follow these steps:

1. Go to tbresults.tripura.gov.in
2. Click on the relevant result link — "TBSE Madhyamik Result 2027" or "TBSE Higher Secondary Result 2027"
3. Enter your Roll Number and Date of Birth exactly as printed on your admit card
4. Click "Submit" or "Get Result"
5. Your subject-wise marks, grades, and overall result status will appear on screen
6. Download and save the result as a PDF for future reference

The result is also accessible from the main TBSE website at tbse.tripura.gov.in. Your physical marksheet will be dispatched to your school by TBSE, and you can collect it a few weeks after the online result is announced.

The result portal may slow down or become temporarily unavailable in the first few hours after declaration due to high traffic from across the state. If it does not load, wait 15–20 minutes and try again.

TBSE 2027 Preparation Tips

With TBSE 2027 theory exams expected in February–March 2027, you have roughly five months to prepare. Here are practical tips for both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students.

General Study Strategy

• Download the official syllabus now: Get the TBSE 2026–27 syllabus PDF from tbse.tripura.gov.in. Prepare only from the current official syllabus — older versions may miss newly added topics.
• Follow your TBSE-prescribed textbooks: For Madhyamik, use the Tripura state board textbooks. For HS, the syllabus largely follows NCERT Class 12 — NCERT textbooks are your primary resource.
• Solve TBSE previous year papers: Question papers from 2022 to 2026 are freely available online. Solving them shows you the exact question format, common topics, and mark distribution.
• Secure internal assessment marks (HS students): For Higher Secondary, 20–30 marks per subject come from internal assessment — periodic tests, notebooks, and project work. These are easier to score than theory marks and they are already locked in before the board exam. Do not ignore them.
• Plan your months: Use October–December for thorough topic coverage, January for focused revision of difficult chapters, and February for full-length practice papers under timed conditions.

Subject-specific Tips

• Mathematics: Practise daily without exception. Work through every exercise in your textbook before taking extra problems. Understand the concept behind each formula — memory alone is not enough for application questions.
• Science (Madhyamik) / Physics, Chemistry, Biology (HS): Read your textbook carefully. For Biology, draw and label diagrams clearly in your exam — TBSE awards marks for diagrams. For Physics and Chemistry, practise numerical problems every day.
• English: Practise letter writing, essay writing, and unseen comprehension from previous TBSE papers. Grammar rules must be applied in writing, not just recalled in theory.
• Social Science / History / Political Science: Make short notes and timelines for History. Practise map work regularly for Geography. For Political Science and Economics, focus on clear definitions and explanations in your own words.
• Accountancy (Commerce): Practise journal entries, ledger posting, and final accounts every day — there is no substitute for daily practice in Accountancy. Speed and accuracy both come only through repetition.

Exam Day Tips

• Keep your admit card and school identity card ready the evening before each exam
• Reach the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the 12:00 Noon start
• Read the full question paper for the first 10 minutes before you start writing
• Attempt all questions — TBSE does not have negative marking
