TSICET Syllabus 2019: Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad. releases TSICET syllabus with the annoucement of the notification for the exam. TSICET 2019 is tentatively scheduled for May 23-24 in a computer-based format. TSICET Exam Syllabus is based on the curriculum of class 10+2. It evaluates a candidate’s quantitative, verbal/reading and reasoning skills. The paper has 200 MCQ questions that are to be completed in 150 minutes.

TSICET Syllabus 2019 will be similar to the syllabus of last year. TSICET has three sections - Analytical Ability, Mathematical Ability and Communication Ability. Analytical and Mathematical Ability have 75 questions each, with one mark for each right answer, hence both sections have 75 marks each. TSICET Exam Pattern Highlights

It is a pen-paper based exam, held in online mode in campuses across the state. Candidates have to write TSICET in 2 hours 30 minutes. Below is a table detailing other important factors of the exam.

It is crucial that candidates prepare for the exam mindful of the weightage given to each section. So each section must be studied carefully. Read below for a detailed description of the TSICET syllabus for each section.

MBA and an equivalent degree can be a get-away ticket to a better career and a better life. Needless to say that it is one of the most crucial exams a person writes in his life. Thus, it is essential that candidates take this test seriously and prepare for it in time. A rushed preparation will only lead to a low score and since this exam is highly competitive, candidates are advised to be well aware of the syllabus and the exam pattern. To make it comprehensible, below is a section wise description of all three parts of the exam. Aspirants must go through it thoroughly before starting their preparation. TISCET requires its aspirants to study hard and study smart.

Analytical Ability involves questions from Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving, largely categorised as Logical Reasoning. Mathematical Ability has questions from Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics largely categorised as quantitative aptitude. Communication Ability has questions covering topics like reading comprehension, vocabulary, functional grammar, business and technical terminology, largely categorised as verbal reasoning 

TSICET Syllabus for Analytical Ability

Analytical Ability consists of 75 questions of one mark each, giving the the entire section a good weightage of 75 marks.

Analytical Ability has questions from two broad topics

  1. Data Sufficiency - 20 questions, 20 marks
  2. Problem Solving - 55 questions, 55 marks

Candidates should cover the following chapters for covering both the topics. These are the type of questions that TSICET covers:

  • Number System & Sequences and Series: Analogies of numbers and alphabet, completion of blank spaces following the pattern in a:b::c:d relationship; odd thing out: missing number in a sequence or a series.
  • Data Analysis: The data given in a Table, Bar diagram, Venn Diagram, Graph, Pie Chart, or a Passage is to be analyzed and the questions relating to the data are to be answered. It primarily consists of decoding data.
  • Alphabetical Coding and Decoding Problems: A code pattern of English Alphabet is given. A given word or a group of letters are to be coded or decoded based on the given code or codes. It can be a letter assigned to a code or a code assigned to a given series of words.
  • Date, Time, Travel & Arrangement Problems: Questions related to time and space will be asked including arrangement problems which involves permutations and combination.

TSICET Syllabus for Mathematical Ability

Mathematical Ability consists of 75 questions of one mark each, giving the the entire section a good weightage of 75 marks. Same as Analytical Ability. However, this section is slightly more difficult than analytical ability as it tests the candidate’s basics and mathematical aptitude.

Mathematical Ability has questions from two broad topics

  1. Arithmetical Ability - 35 questions, 35 marks
  2. Algebraical & Geometrical Ability - 30 questions, 30  marks
  3. Statistical Ability - 10 questions, 10 marks

Candidates should cover the following chapters the three topics. These are the type of questions that TSICET covers for testing Mathematical Aptitude:

  • Arithmetical Ability will have questions from the following topics: Laws of indices, Ratio and proportion, Surds, Numbers and divisibility, l.c.m. and g.c.d, Rational numbers, Percentages, Profit and loss, Partnership, Pipes and cisterns,  Time, distance and work problems, Areas and volumes,  Mensuration, Modular arithmetic. 
  • Algebraical and Geometrical Ability will have questions from the following topics: Tautologies-Sets, Relations and functions, applications – Equation of a line in different forms, Trigonometry. Progressions, Binomial Theorem, Matrices, Notion of a limit and derivative; Lines, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles, Coordinate geometry.
  • Statistical Ability will have questions from the following topics:Frequency distributions, Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Deviations, Correlation, Simple problems on Probability.

TSICET Syllabus 2019 for Communication Ability

Communication Ability consists of 50 questions of one mark each, giving the the entire section a decent weightage of 50 marks. It is lower than the other two sections but it is also harder to prepare and more time consuming as it involves a good understanding of grammar and long passages.

Since vocabulary and reading speed cannot be built in a day or even a month, candidates should start preparing for this section well in time. Reading of newspapers and opinion blogs will also help gain both speed and knowledge.

The section is divided as such

  • Vocabulary - 10 questions, 10 marks
  • Business and Computer terminology - 10 questions, 10 marks
  • Functional Grammar - 15 questions, 15 marks
  • Reading Comprehension - 15 questions, 15 marks

Candidates should brush up on their grammar basics and make reading newspaper, blogs, novels and relevant news items as well as scholarly essays a regular time bound activity to judge their speed and accuracy. They must also make it a point to solve as many reading passages as possible, it will give them a sense of structure and also improve their reading and answering time.

Tips for TSICET Preparation

Helpful points to remember while preparing for TSICET entrance exam:

  • Check your Starting Level: Before diving into course books and relevant material, solve the last year question paper to assess where you need to start your preparation from.
  • Set small goals: After having ascertained what sections need works, prepare a plan that divides topics to be covered and time to allotted to each topic.
  • Practice makes one accurate: Yes, this is one of the most crucial things to remember. Solve as many question papers as possible. Do section wise tests to see which topics need work. Also solve previous year question papers so you get a sense of what can be expected in terms of difficulty level
