UPSEE 2020 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

    Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will release UPSEE 2020 Exam Pattern on its official website. The examination consists of many papers that vary as per the course the candidate opted for. UPSEE 2020 will be held on September 20, 2020. The standard of the entrance test will be that of Higher Secondary or equivalent exam for UG courses and graduate-level for PG programs. There has been no change in the pattern of UPSEE 2020 exam and it will be the same as that for 2018. All aspiring candidates are advised to solve UPSEE Practice Papers prior to applying for the exam to get clearer insights about the exam pattern and type of questions asked. 

    • Before appearing for the exam candidates are advised to check eligibility for UPSEE and must be aware of the syllabus and exam pattern.
    • The exam will consist of objective questions i.e, multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
    • The total number of questions asked in UPSEE 2020 will vary for each paper. The maximum marks a candidate can get in each paper and also the time duration will vary according to paper.
    • Each question will carry 4 marks and negative marking is not applicable.

    Aspirants are advised to check UPSEE syllabus to get an idea about the subjects and topics from which questions are asked in the exam. It also helps the students to start their preparation in a planned and strategic manner. AKTU has released the paper-wise syllabus on its official website. 

    UPSEE 2020 Papers for Different Courses

    UPSEE 2020 will contain several papers. Aspirants must choose the paper according to the course they wish to pursue. The courses with their requirement of respective papers to be attempted are given below:

    UPSEE 2020 Detailed Exam Pattern 

    UPSEE 2020 will include 11 papers which will be conducted in 3 days. The subjects tested in the exam will depend on the technical subject chosen by the candidate. The test will be composed of objective type questions to be answered in 180 minutes. Aspirants will be awarded +4 marks for every correct answer. The maximum obtainable marks will depend on the various UPSEE Papers.

    The details about the exam pattern are explained clearly in this article:

    • Mode of exam: UPSEE 2020 will be conducted in online and offline mode depending on the papers.

    Offline Mode- Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3 and Paper 4 will be conducted via the offline mode. Aspirants will be required to mark their answers on an OMR sheet.

    Online Mode- Paper 5, Paper 6, Paper 7, Paper 8, Paper 9, Paper 10 and Paper 11 will be conducted in the offline mode i.e. it will be a computer-based test.

    • Language: The test paper will be available in English and Hindi language. It will not be provided in any other language and any request to do so shall not be entertained.
    • Type of Question: The exam will have objective type questions. All the questions will be in the form of MCQs. Each question will have 4 alternative options suggested as answers, out of which the applicant must choose one that seems the most appropriate answer.
    • Duration: Candidates have to attempt 150 questions in a duration of 3 hours (180 minutes).

    UPSEE 2020 Marking Scheme

    Applicants must have a clear idea about the marking scheme to help them decide how to attempt the questions in the entrance test. There will be no change in the marking scheme of UPSEE 2020. It should be noted that although there is no negative marking, a record of the total number of incorrect answers of applicants will be kept for preparing the merit list. The marking scheme is stated as follows:

    Important Instructions

    Every individual must ensure that they follow some rules and regulations to maintain the decorum of the exam hall and to ensure that the UPSEE 2020 examination proceeds properly.

    • Paper 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be evaluated by OMR methodology. Aspirants must mark their responses on OMR sheets.
    • Applicants must use a ballpoint pen (Black/Blue) only to mark their answers in the OMR sheets in the UPSEE 2020 exam.
    • Questions will be given in both, English and Hindi languages. In case of ambiguity, the English version will be considered final.
    • A record of the number of incorrect answers given by each aspirant will be maintained. This will be used as tie-breaking criteria.

    Preparation Tips

    It is necessary for the candidates to plan their preparation schedule and focus pon the important topics that carry maximum weight. To score well in the entrance examination, aspirants are advised to read the preparation tips given below:

    • Read the instructions carefully. There might be some changes in the pattern.
    • Never stick to one question. It may lessen your time for the next question. Jump quickly to the next questions.
    • Attempt the questions that you find easy to crack initially.
    • Answer all the questions which you find easy to crack initially.
    • Understand UPSEE exam-pattern properly. It saves you from panic when you see your question paper.
    • Do take mock tests twice in a week to check how much have you improved.
    • Know your strengths and weaknesses.
    • After going through your syllabus once, increase the number of mock tests you take.

    UPSEE FAQs 2020

    Ques. What is the Eligibility Criteria for UPSEE?

    Ans. For admission to the first year of B.Tech, the candidate must have clearly passed 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/University and for B.Tech Lateral Entry. Candidates must have passed three years B.Sc degree and passed XII standard with mathematics as one of the subjects from any recognized University. Candidates must have secured 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidate) in both the cases

    Ques. What is the Marking scheme of UPSEE 2020?

    Ans. Candidates will get +4 marks for each correct answer. There is No negative marking for Incorrect/unattempted answers.

    Ques. How many questions are there in UPSEE?

    Ans. There are a total of 150 questions in Paper 1, 2, and 3 each. However, in Paper 5, there are a total of 100 Multiple choice questions.

    Ques. In Which mode UPSEE 2020 will be conducted?

    Ans. UPSEE 2020 will be conducted in Online and Offline mode depending upon the paper.

    Ques. Is there any negative marking in the UPSEE 2020?

    Ans. No, there is no negative marking in the entrance examination. However, the authority keeps a record of incorrect answers of each candidate separately and uses it (if required) at the time of releasing UPSEE merit list.
