Stages of XAT 2021 Counselling

XAT Counselling involves three broad stages, and each stage is extremely crucial in ensuring that you get into a college of your preference. Here are the stages in XAT Counselling 2021:

Stage 1: XAT Counselling Registration

XAT Counselling registration can only be done online through their official portal. The candidate will not receive any intimation regarding the Counselling process form XLRI. Please mind that there are no alternative ways to register for XAT Counselling Process apart from online. Keep the following in mind while registering:

The application process is exclusive for branches of XLRI.
For other colleges, candidates have to apply through the Colleges’ official portal.
Foreign candidates have to apply through GATE.
The Application Fee has to be paid through online mode.

Steps to Register for XAT Counselling 2021:

Follow the steps mentioned below to register for XAT Counselling in online mode:

Step 1: Visit the official portal of XAT (xatonline.in)

Step 2: Click on the login link.

Step 3: Enter login details to get into your registered account for XAT.

Step 4: Select the city of your preference and update the page.

Step 5: Take a screenshot of the page for future reference.

Stage 2: XAT Counselling Programme Selection

The next stage consists of the candidates selecting the course of their choice through the official portal of XAT. Follow the steps below to select the XLRI course of your choice:

Step 1: Visit the official portal of XAT

Step 2: Click on the login link.

Step 3: Enter login details to get into your registered account for XAT.

Step 4: Select the courses of your choice from the list.

Step 5: An Application fee of INR 300 has to be paid per course. Check XLRI Courses & Fees

Step 6: Pay the XAT Counselling application fee through online mode (Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking or UPI)

Step 7: Save the confirmation for future reference.

Stage 3: XAT Seat Allotment

The Seat allotment for XLRI is one on the basis of the standardized XLRI Selection Criteria which is given below. XAT Seat Allotment depends on the following things:

Candidates performance in XAT, XAT GD & PI, past academic performance as well as their work experience.
Following the seat allotment, candidates can pay the fees.

The students called for counselling have to report at the venue with the following documents/ certificates in original along with the Xerox copies of the documents:

XAT Counselling: Group Discussion & Personal Interview

XAT GD & PI have different criteria for each of the available courses. Here is a breakdown of the selection criteria for each course:

XAT 2021 GD & PI Preparation

XAT 2021 GD & PI will be conducted around February to March 2021, after the completion of XAT Exam. Once the XAT cut off is cleared, candidates only have to look forward to completing the XAT GD and PI. Here are some things every candidate can do to prepare for XAT GD & PI:

Practice Interpersonal Skills - XAT GD & PI will depend a lot on the candidate's charisma and charm. If the candidate is very well versed in navigating social situations, they can easily crack XAT GD & PI while also leaving a lasting impression on the Interviewers.

Improve Leadership Skills - One of the primary purposes of any group discussions is to assess the candidates leadership skills and ability to take charge. If the candidate is successfully able to lead a group and assume a position of respect in a group, it would mean good things during the group discussion. However, this also means being an efficient team player as working well within the group is equally important.

Be Assertive - Assertiveness is one of the most important skills someone can have in any situation. Assertiveness is being able to communicate your point and saying No when the situation arises.

Improve Fluency in Professional Communication - In other words, improve your speaking skills especially in English. English is a global language and every candidate should be well versed in English and have a good ability to be able to speak in social settings.

Be Well Versed about various topics - The Interviewers can ask questions from any topic, so it is important to be able to know about a broad range of issues. They may ask questions relating to politics, business, economy etc. Thus, it becomes crucial to be well read.

Improve Public Speaking Skills - This becomes important as the interviewers will be able to pick on nervousness very quickly. Practise daily in front of a mirror and take every opportunity to speak in a public avenue.

Ans. Among all these examinations, XAT is most difficult, followed by CAT. The difficulty level of the exams, in descending order (most difficult to easy) is XAT> CAT> IIFT> SNAP> TISS> NMAT. Now, let us dive into a detailed analysis behind the assigned ranks and the difficulty level. IIFT- The questions asked in IIFT are a mixture of moderate and difficult. The struggle lies in the attainment of marks within the cut-off range, both total cut-off and individual section cut-off. Therefore, the students have no option but to perform exceedingly well in all sections, GK included. The acceptance rate of IIFT is comparably low, only 400 students get admitted out of 50000 students. SNAP – The entrance exam is easy but the tough part is to score marks that will be eligible for admission into Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, or SCHMID branch. These are the branches which are of good quality, unlike the rest of them. TISS- The exam pattern of TISS is easy but the GK section is the most dangerous part among them. The questions asked in the GK section comprise both general knowledge and current affairs, therefore the portions are cover is endless. NMAT- NMAT exam can be successfully cleared with proper preparation. The questions asked are conceptually based. Ans. The order of difficulty is definitely related to various factors but the prominent ones are candidates appearing & its composition. Keeping these in mind; the list is as follows: Common Aptitude Test(CAT) The exam is conducted by IIMs and accepted by most of the management institutes across the country. The test duration is around 3 hours and comprises 100 questions. A nice level of preparation is required to crack it as colleges look up to candidates holding more than 90 percentile. Xavier’s Aptitude Test (XAT) This examination is organised by Xavier Institute Of Management situated in Jamshedpur. It also qualifies as a prominent score for management courses across various colleges. The paper has sections similar to CAT but reasoning and general knowledge are the cracking points in the paper. Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) It is conducted by All India Council Of Technical Education(AICTE) having a moderate level of difficulty. It takes general knowledge scores into consideration. It is a 3 hour exam with 100 questions. Management Aptitude Test (MAT) This examination is conducted 4 times a year in February, May, September and December by All India Management Association (AIMA). It is the easiest of all management exams and is accepted by 55-60% colleges across the country. It is a 2.5 hour paper including 200 questions. The percentile awarded is not inclusive of general knowledge score.
