XAT Preparation Tips: The management exam is the second most sought after exam after CAT among management aspiring candidates. So what makes XAT so special, it is its colleges and their ROI. Like all management exams, there are two stages of XAT viz.

A brief about the XAT 2020 exam pattern is given below:

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation: The weightage of Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QA and DI) is generally the highest in the XAT paper. The difficulty level is expectedly on the tougher side for this section.
Conceptual clarity is the key to ace this section.
Have a pattern to approach different questions. This will be possible once you practice enough through previous year question papers and mock tests. Once you have a set pattern,analyze its effectiveness by solving questions higher in terms of difficulty level.
Learn shortcuts and tricks for calculations. They can be easily found in videos online.
Data Interpretation will be relatively simpler to prepare in comparison to Quantitative Ability. The questions will come in the form of sets.
Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning: Verbal Ability is categorized into Reading Comprehension and English Usage:
For some people, reading the questions first proves helpful in saving time, find such strategies for you.
For Jumbled word problems, try to identify the connectors first and link them according to the paragraph.
Improving your vocabulary will enhance and speed up your reading and comprehension skills You can refer to books like Word Power by Norman Lewis.
Along with the meaning focus on the usage of words.
The questions in Logical Reasoning are mostly in the form of caselets:
One of the important topics is critical reasoning.
There is not much study material to prepare from, one has to rely on practice.
Decision Making: This section will contain questions and problems on various business and everyday situations. These situations will create dilemmas regarding what should be done. And in the solution, the most suitable analysis will be provided which the candidates have to select.
General Knowledge: In addition to current affairs, questions may come from History, Geography, Science and Technology etc.
Don’t leave out preparation for this section for the last. Some devotion to GK section will reduce the pressure immensely and will also prove helpful in retaining the information.

You need to have a holistic understanding of subjects like history, geography etc and current affairs related to them.
There is no negative marking for this particular section, therefore, candidates shouldn’t leave any question unanswered in the exam.
He got 98.4 percentile in XAT 2015 and he says that you have to practice RC, Quant and Decision Making. He says that candidate must give mock papers regularly. He had practised a lot on his weak areas by making handouts and giving tests.
Priyajeev scored 99.82 percentile marks in XAT 2013. He says, “practice is the only way to improve your accuracy as the syllabus of MBA entrance exam is quite of elementary level. He advises to the aspirants of XAT to give mock tests as it gives confidence and helps in preparing well for the exam”.
Harish Sankar appeared for XAT 2011 and scored 74.5 percentile marks. He says, it is very difficult to manage and give quality time to preparation if you’re doing a job simultaneously. But only magic can help you pass the exam without any preparation. He advises the candidates to motivate themselves as there is no bigger motivator other than you. So, be a self-motivator.
