Situated at the heart of Western Harz Mountains, Clausthal University of Technology (TU Clausthal) is a major international setup in Germany which was established in 1775.

TU Clausthal is a research-intensive university that covers promising fields such as new materials, oil, natural gases, mining and manufacturing technologies. The University has been bestowed with prestigious awards for its researches and has been a notable participant for several space projects.

The university currently is the home for three inter-disciplinary research centers and two individual scientific centers.

The Sports University with 60 disciplines and the boathouse on Oker Dam are some specialties of this university.

Programs, Campus and Residence

Programs TU Clausthal provides courses on 36 subjects for bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate level studies, of which four master’s are completely taught in English. Focusing on economic, natural, and engineering sciences, the university delivers a practice-oriented curriculum. While most of the courses are taught exclusively in German, master’s in Mining Engineering and Petroleum engineering which are specially designed for international students are taught in English. Campus Clausthal University of Technology is located in Harz Mountains range. The geography and other natural resources like lakes allow students a wide range of sporting activities in this area, such as mountain biking, free climbing, sailing, or cross-country skiing in winter. Residence The student services at Clausthal runs about 1,250 rooms. TU Clausthal students can apply for single rooms, single apartments, doublets and shared flats. There are 12 dormitories available inside the campus. Students are advised to preferably rent from the student service rooms even though private rooms are available in the area.

Clausthal University of Technology Admissions 

Applications are accepted in offline mode only. Applicants are required to download the application form and send the signed form with the receipt of the handling fees by post.

General requirements**: The documents for a complete application includes the signed online application form, officially certified copies of secondary school certificate and university certificates, proof of German language skills**, and receipt of the processing fee. Language Requirements: The language of instruction in TU Clausthal is mainly German. So it is necessary to possess a German language certificate. A score of DSH-2, TestDaF-4 or any equivalent is required. For English taught courses, a B1 level English certificate is also required besides the German language certificate.

Clausthal University of Technology Scholarships

International students are highly advised to seek external financial aids from their home country or external foundations. At the moment TU Clausthal do not have scholarships. However, the Germany scholarship or “Deutschlandstipendium” will be available soon for TU Clausthal and students can benefit from that. All the applicants can check the availability of country-specific scholarships in DAAD scholarship database.
