UG Applications Requirements

  • Higher Education Entrance Qualification; Official Transcripts
  • TestAS (Standardized Aptitude Test for Foreign Students)*
  • Proof of German Language Proficiency: TestDaF (minimum of 4 in all parts); DSH-2; Goethe-Certificate C2**
  • Additional: Proof of financial resources; Copy of Passport; Health Insurance

*TestAS is only required for degree courses with restrictive admissions (limited number of seats). Scoring above 90 percentile increases the probability of a candidate getting his/her desired course. **The mode of instruction for most programs is German, and foreign candidates are required to meet the required proficiency in the language. Inability to meet with the German language requirements can be solved by taking up a paid preparatory German course (DSH). Note: The University also offers more than 30 International Degree Programs which do not necessarily require German Language proficiency. However, proof of proficiency in other languages such as English might be required. How to Apply: All foreign candidates seeking admission to the University of Leipzig can start their application procedure by creating an account on the Uni-assist application portal. The service charges a handling fee of 75€ per application. Cost of Attendance & Financial Aid

  • The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the biggest provider of scholarships and funding for international students. All foreign candidates must check for scholarships provided by their country’s government.
  • Foreign candidates are allowed a limited period of student employment. The German government demands all foreign students to provide proof of sufficient funds (8,640 €) to afford their higher education.
