Lucknow: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is all set to offer placement opportunities to its engineering and management students for the new academic session of 2020-21.
AKTU will facilitate interview sessions for students to be placed in Multinational Companies. The university will offer this facility to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of 750 technical colleges affiliated to AKTU.
The university will arrange for employment in 40,000 posts as part of the UP government’s initiative, “Mission Rozgar’. The initiative focuses on enhancing the employability of youth.
As per Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, AKTU, the organizations have been keeping away from on-campus placements drives due to COVID. Placements for students would have been anyway possible with state government’s support.
In view of COVID-19 pandemic, AKTU has made arrangements for virtual placement options so that students are not disadvantaged from this opportunity. In the forthcoming week, AKTU will organise an online employment fair.
About 7 major companies like Amazon, Cadila, Aricent, ZS Associates, Infosys, Gainsight and NTT Data are expected to participate in this online employment fair.
Pathak said, “Companies are now approaching the university to pick up students. This was possible only after the government managed to put a check on Covid-19 cases,” He asserted that many organizations are already conducting online interviews for recruiting their students.
He added, “We have set a target to provide placement to 40,000 students in the new academic session. So we will bring more and more companies to our campus.”
Meanwhile, Ashish Mishra, spokesperson of AKTU said, “It is the dream of every student to get a good job after completing the degree. AKTU is aiming to fulfil the dream of students under the Yogi government’s Mission Rozgar.”
