Assam AHSEC 12th Result Out Now: Girls Outperform Boys; 88.06% Passed in Science, 78.28% and 88.18% in Arts and Commerce Respectively
Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared the Class 12 results of 2020 at 9 am on Thursday, dated 25 June 2020. The results are live and available on the official website of the Assam Board as well as the AHSEC result portal.
About 2 lakh students took the Assam Board HS exams of 2020. Exams were conducted across 772 examination centres from February 12 and over by March 14, 2020.
Despite that, the result declaration was delayed this year in the wake of COVID-19 crisis. Last year, the results were declared by May 25.
There are scores of alternative websites available to check results for Assam HS Results of 2020. As per the press release, Manoranjan Kakati, Board Secretary, AHSEC, mentioned 13 alternative websites where students can check results, some of them are:
Stream-wise Toppers for AHSEC 2020
- Science: Abhilash Kalita scores 97.2% (486/500)
- Arts: Pubali Deka scores 96.2% (481/500)
- Commerce - Krishna Maheshwari scores 94.2% (471/500)
Abhilash Kalita who topped in Science stream is a student of Anundoram Borooah Academy, Barpeta.
Scoring 481 out of 500, Pubali Deka of Patharighat HS School, Darrang has jointly topped in Arts stream with Shraddha Borgohain, Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon.
In Commerce stream, Krishna Maheshwari topped the stream scoring 471 out of 500.
Girls Outperform Boys in AHSEC 2020
This year, the pass percentage of girls is more compared to boys in all the three streams that include science, arts and commerce. In terms of overall marks, girls fared better than boys in all the streams.
In arts, 93.85% of girls passed whereas for boys it is 89.55%. In the commerce stream, 94.33% of girls passed compared to 91.09% boys. For science students, 94.33% of girls passed whereas for boys it had been 91.09%.
Assam Board HS Results 2020: Overall Performance Across Streams
In Science and Arts, the pass percentage in HS 2020 results is the best compared to the last 4 years. Pass percentage in Science has increased from 86.59% in 2019 to 88.6% in 2020.
Additionally, commerce students have fared exceptionally well, as the pass percentage is the highest since 2011. The pass percentage for arts and commerce have observed a rise from 75.14% to 78.28% and 87.59% to 88.18% respectively.
Thus, on average girls outshine boys with 85.02% pass percentage compared to 78.64%. In the vocational stream as well, the pass percentage reached 91.55% from 89.42% as in 2019.
District-Wise performance at AHSEC Results
In the performance rally, Sibsagar district excelled among all with 95.97% pass rate considering all the streams of study.
However, individually in Arts stream, Darrang district fared best in Arts by registering 89.07% pass rate.
For commerce stream, West Karbi, Chirang and Majuli performed exceptionally well showcasing a clean 100% pass percentage. However, total enrollments from these districts were lower than any other district.
