Ques 1. Kindly tell us about your experience in the education industry and what makes it the best industry to work in?
Ans. Experience in education industry has been great. We are working very sincerely for the providing quality education to our students. Dealing with students and faculty members for various issues makes the job very interesting and fulfilling.
The feeling of changing someone’s life through education makes Education industry the best to work in. We are not selling shampoos and oils but helping our children make successful careers and change their own and their family’s life for the best.
Ques 2. Any of the significant challenges you faced as a Director of SISTEC?
Ans. Keeping pace with the changing requirements of the industry is our biggest challenge. The final purpose of professional education is to meet the requirements of the industry. So, at SISTec we are constantly trying to keep our teaching updated and give relevant skills to our students. This requires constant interactions with the industry and review of trends in technology.
Ques 3. Starting off as a professor yourselves to a lot of managerial roles like A Director, A Chairman, A Coordinator etc, how does your curriculum ensure best practices of the industry?
Ans. As I mentioned above, we constantly review our curriculum and keep adding any missing topics. Plus, we have over 40% faculty who come with industry background and they constantly engage with industry. We devote more than 50% working time to practical and skills training and invite a large number of industry executives to interact with students.
Lastly, we have MOUs with 4 companies through which we jointly develop and deliver industry-relevant education.
Ques 4. What goals do you have in your mind for SISTEC?
Ans. To deliver industry relevant and hands-on skills education to our students. SISTec shall be known for producing students who are competent, qualified and committed to work in the area of technology and deliver good to our society. We want to make a name for ourselves by producing right set of technocrats.
Ques 5. An Engineer by Background, and MBA From IIM Indore , illustrious Educationist, the journey has been vast, tell us about some of your experiences and how does your curriculum ensure the best practices of the industry?
Ans. My technology and Management background gives me ideas and ability to map the requirements of industry to the skills of our students. I have also worked in top consulting companies and have seen business very closely in the technology area. So we are trying to develop those ideas into reality at SISTec and give education a corporate way. We focus a lot of bringing right set of teachers and then facilitating their growth and delivery to our students.
Ques 6. Tell us about your path towards attaining the positions of the elite?
Ans. I am not an elite and just work for the development and growth of our students who have shown their trust on SISTec. We ensure we justify our job and help them make successful careers.
Ques 7. How do you build a positive school culture or climate?
Ans. We select people strictly based on knowledge and ability to teach. And thereafter all decisions are taken on merit and with a sole purpose of students benefit in mind. This is what helps us make positive culture at colleges because everyone is bounded and motivated by a bigger cause. We encourage faculty to perform to their best and make students partner in their journey to success.
Ques 8. What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
Ans. My job as a leader is to build a team of the right set of people and then give a direction to that team. This is what we do at SISTec. We encourage everyone to choose their field of strength and perform excellently in that. I have a great team and they all are moved by their commitment to education.
Ques 9. What are your takes on Education being digitalized?
Technology is a great enabler of our times. Digitalisation has brought so many benefits like access. Millions of people now have access to all good teachers and literature in the world. Plus, it has improved efficiency of teachers by relieving them of a lot of clerical tasks and allowing them to focus on developing their core teaching delivery. I am great supporter of digitalisation and it shall act a catalyser of change for our society
Ques 10. What would be your ideal school environment, and how would you encourage that kind of culture?
Ans. An ideal school environment is one which encourages everyone to explore their best and allows them to make mistakes and improve. The sole purpose of education is not to evaluate but is to learn. Thus, institutions shall focus more on learning outcome rather than assessments.
