Dr. Shiv Prakash T is the treasurer of Sri Vijaya Vittala Charitable and Educational Trust. He is involved in the academic administration and placement activities of the college. He has completed his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore. He has over ten years of IT experience in the field of Embedded Systems and Digital Multimedia. He is currently authoring two books namely "Mastering Java" and "Data Structures in C" to be published by Tata McGraw Hill in 2019 and 2020 respectively. His research interests include Ad Hoc networks, Sensor networks and Embedded Linux. He has published several international research papers.

Experience in the education sector

Imparting education is the most important task for building a strong and prosperous nation. The education environment brings both the energy and enthusiasm of the youth and the wisdom and experience of the senior professors on the same platform which is the best experience you can get.

Dr. Shiv Prakash’s leadership style

As a leader, you should give freedom to your juniors to express their style of working within the constraints of the organization. I always advise my team to work smart not hard.

Tackling the challenge of growing demand

The growing demand for quality education in Bangalore has been on the rise and we strive to provide the same with respect to faculty and infrastructure.

Ensuring best practice of industry through the curriculum

AICTE and VTU have recently endeavored to update the curriculum to accommodate industry practices, especially the new industry internship programs help bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Growth of students through placement opportunities available at Vijaya Vittala Institute of Technology

Skill development has to be a part of any placement process, most freshers are unlikely to get niche jobs on graduation. Students are advised to pursue jobs that suite their acumen and talent, suitable training is provided for this.

Establishing a relation with the students and being available for them

As a trustee with a Doctorate in Computer Science having both industry and academic experience, I do not curtail myself to only administrative roles, I am involved with the students right from when they come to college to take admission, taking lectures for them and finally in the placement cell during their interviews.

Views on an ideal school environment

School environment should have an equal priority towards academics, sports, cultural and other activities, but seldom this can happen due to short semester spans, however, we still try to keep a balance.

Top qualities that an aspiring engineer must possess

Engineers should think in a broad angle, keeping in mind the industry needs with safety and protection for nature and environment. Nation building and entrepreneurship qualities should be instilled during the engineering course.

Goals in mind for the institute

The Institute needs to grow beyond just Engineering courses, we are planning other courses in commerce, arts, pharmacy, etc.

Suggestions for the current youth

One thing that I must say is: Be a good human first, then an Engineer.
