Experience of working in the education industry
My experience in the education sector has been overwhelming for the last two decades, got a chance to inspire so many lives; transformed them into successful good human beings. Everyone remembers a great mentor in their life, be it in personal life or a professional life – perhaps that one thing inspired me to be in the education sector.
When we meet them at the beginning of the course (MBA), they are completely a raw product; based on students’ liking and disliking; we get a chance to mold them to be a successful Corporate PROFESSIONAL.
My philosophy of leadership is nothing but spiritual leadership
i.e. nothing but be happy and alert in difficult times/situations. My leadership style is completely based on an inclusive management - make everyone feel like a stakeholder in the organization.
Hurdles to deal with as the Founder & CEO, of IAME, Bangalore
Like any other entrepreneur, the challenges are same: a lot of sacrifice on the personal front, hard work; getting the right team in the right place; financial challenges, convincing the investors; 14+ hours in the office, you need to do office boy work in CEO ‘s job (initial stage). Luckily, I could build a strong “start-up team” at the early stage than hiring a “start-up team”.
Best practice of industry in the curriculum
Constant interaction with the industry, live projects, case study method, guest lectures, interaction with successful alumni, we believe in 60% theory and 40% practice-based learning.
Steady relation with the students and availability for them
As a founder & CEO of IAME
I strongly believe students are our biggest assets
A regular informal interaction is very much required on regular basis to find out each individual’s taste and career choice. First and foremost, remove the barriers between the management and the students. Then categorize the students based on their talents and skill test. Start polishing their positive qualities rather than criticizing them, encourage them, be a magnetic power among students. Remember each student must be dealt with differently, inculcate self-confidence in them.
Every day, I have earmarked 2 hours exclusively to interact with the new joiners, so that they come and have an informal chat with me.
Encouragement for an ideal environment for learning
First and foremost is creating a positive learning environment; away from maddening traffic, distraction, we have well-taken care of the basic needs of all students for an ideal environment for Management education.
We have adapted a Gurukul style of teaching with constant regular basis interaction with the staff/teachers and students.
Changes seen in the education industry
Along with the exiting process, technology playing a major role in the education industry. In fact, technology has got a major impact on the education process. Blackboards have been replaced by Smartboards, OHP has been replaced by Projectors, Skype classroom sessions and cloud storing. The teachers have to be like a good mentor and they should inspire students until the end of the session or else students will lose their attention in the classrooms. Each student has to be dealt with differently; with a lot of patience.
The modern management education sector growing variety of choices: affect our lives in a positive way. Whether we like it or not, one can’t stop or even slow down technology. So adopt its best part, be creative and enjoy new learning perspectives.
