4th January 2017, Hyderabad: Girls were dressed in Ghagharas, Sherwanis, Lehngas and traditional sarees and the boys wore dhothis, lungis etc. Jeans and T-shirts were not to be seen anywhere in the sprawling grounds. What could have been easily mistaken for a fancy-dress ball was actually ‘Ethnic Day’ celebrations at the GITAM Hyderabad Business School (GHBS) on 4th January 2018.
It was mandatory for all students participating in the event to come in traditional outfits. The event began as a rally. Some students of the GHBS did a traditional dance. The main message of the celebration was to respect the traditions and recognize the culture of the others.
“Diversity made the world more beautiful. Each ethnic group had something special and members from other groups should recognize and respect the ethnic nuances”, GHBS Dean & Director Prof. Y.Lakshman Kumar said. The ethnic dances and display was finished off with ethic food.
