I joined IIHMR (International Institute of Health Management Research), Delhi with a hope to serve our society in a better way. The Institute provided me wholesome learnings and gave opportunities to explore in many areas like field visits, part of surveys. research studies, presentation skills and best of all, the effect of Teamwork.
With institute facilitation, I got an opportunity to do a dissertation in Afghanistan but didn’t join for some personal reasons. After completing post-graduation in 2012, I joined NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) in the smart state of India, Gujarat, as a DUPC (District Urban Programme Coordinator) for one of the challenging districts of Gujarat, Banaskantha, in terms of geographical spread. I learned healthcare delivery system of India at grass root level there.
Worked for Urban Health Centre, Urban Sub Centre, site identification, collaborating with different Nagarpalikas. I also worked for smooth execution of routine vaccination programme and for all the routine work of healthcare delivery system related to RCH (Reproductive and Child Health) and RSBY (Rashtriya Swastha Bima Yojna), etc.
I appreciate the district health department for their support and enthusiasm, especially CDHO (Chief District Health Officer) - Dr. A.H. Acharya. As the Programme was new, it was taking a lot of time for site identification and approval from different departments. Not being able to deliver services, I found myself not doing much for the people and I left the position in my second term.
Then I came back to my hometown, struggled for an opportunity which took quite some time when one of my friends from IIHMR Delhi facilitated to get one. Joined Vipul MedCorp Insurance TPA Pvt Ltd. Network Dept. in 2014 and served there for every part of my work assigned. In the organization, I learnt hospital networking, corporate work culture, health insurance and challenges of TPA (Third Party Administration) industry, etc.
During the start of 2016, I got an opportunity to serve a Global Corporate. wherein Vipul MedCorp as a service provider was providing pre-defined OPD services to the corporate employees and their dependents on a cashless basis, PAN India. It was one of the new concepts which worked well with Team efforts under the guidance of seniors in the organization.
Last but not the least, IIHMR Delhi has provided a tremendous platform wherein I got opportunities to explore different kind of sectors which is not limited to single stature. I am very thankful to my friends, institute professors and other staff for the learning they have provided.
One of the suggestions, to explore different fields, IIHMR Delhi needs to design a structure where all students should get an opportunity to present more papers at different platforms for the topics of their own choice (Minimum 5 paper presentations in a year). And once a year, IIHMR Delhi should ask different organizations to present their papers. This, in turn, will help students to get connected and upgrade their knowledge base.
