Ques. What did it take to get nominated for the Vice Chancellor position of the ICFAI University, Raipur?

Ans. It is not the nomination but is an open selection. Vice Chancellor’s post these days is advertised nationally and there is a selection committee appointed by the Governor of the State (Chhattisgarh). On receiving the panel from selection committee, the Governors of the State appoints a suitable person to the post of Vice Chancellor.

It is the academic credentials of a person, experience and achievements in academics and other allied field is required to get selected.

Ans. School environment must be conducive for gaining knowledge. All efforts should be that students learn and develop to face the challenges ahead.

Such experiences I share with students and will be willing to share with students.

Ques. How close are you to the goals and objectives you set when you became the Vice Chancellor, ICFAI University, Raipur?

Ans. I have not reached my goal as setting up of a university and developing it from scratch in today’s environment takes time. This is a very new university and is progressing. One thing I am very pleased that we have at the university strong curriculum, good faculty who take interest in imparting quality education to the students relevant to society and the industry.

Ques. What according to you are the top 2 things that the MBA program teaches and nobody else teaches?

Ans. Case based learning and emphasis on solving problems.

Ques. What makes ICFAI University stand out from the rest?

Ans. Our curriculum, case based teaching, internship.

Ques. Are there any new programs that you are excited to launch?

Ans. We are planning to launch Integrated ICFAI University Courses which will take less time to complete than normal time. Programs like: BBA-MBA, B.Tech-MBA

Ques. What’s your take on Employability Vs Placements?

Ans. Employability as I understand is making a student suitable for a job through academic training, soft skill, IT knowledge etc in chosen branch of specialization. This will help a student to start delivering in a short time. Placement is an area where a student is just selected by an organization to do a job, whether the person is well trained or not for that particular job. Such students need lot of training to perform.

Ques. Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring management students?

Ans. I would only like to suggest that Management students must take their studies seriously as they will have to face a highly competitive world and they will have to prove their worth. They should be up to date with what is happening in management world. Due to automation job market will be shrinking and they will face challenges. One should try to become entrepreneurs rather than job seekers.
