DU Admission 2019: Scholarships, Waiver and Web Tools for Aspirants

Delhi University plans to assist students whose parents are deceased or unemployed and economically weaker sections by providing scholarships and increasing number of reserved seats.

The University recently shared its plan to provide full scholarship to students whose both parents are deceased or unemployed and half fee waiver to those students whose earning member is deceased in efforts to cover their college fees. Web tools and interactive mobile friendly website is now available to all students


Delhi University Admission Process Assistance

Since the registration process is completely online for all students and had commenced from May 30 . The Dean Students’ Welfare Office is going to organise open day sessions for candidates aspiring for undergraduate courses and their parents in order to help them understand the admission process in the colleges of the university. A help desk will be put in the conference with the aim to assist candidates.The colleges will also organise counseling sessions and set up help desks in their premises during the admission process.


EWS Reservation Introduced in DU

The University is implementing a 10 percent increase in seats for economically weaker sections leading to 6,000 seats for EWS candidates. A further 15 percent increase is expected to be implemented next year in order to give opportunities to deprived students.

The varsity also assured that it will not affect interests of students from other categories.

The students are  instructed to specify whether they are from Economically Weaker Sections while  registering and will have to upload a certificate as proof. There will be a seperate cut-offs for students belonging to EWS category.

Implementation of Inclusive Approach for State Boards

The admissions committee is offering inclusive approach to students in order to negate the drawback of the fact that different state boards have different subjects with different nomenclature, but same curriculum as CBSE subjects  but still face a certain deduction in marks.

The admission committee has tried their level best to make the admission process easy and efficient. Mapping of subjects from the state boards , online calculator and promotion of modern India languages are few of the steps taken for the same.


Latest Changes in DU Admission Process 2019

  • Students can now edit their forms once after filling them at an additional price of INR 100 during the registration process.
  • Cancellation fee has been increased from INR 500 to INR 1000 in order to ensure that students weigh their options and seek admissions
  • Only one cancellation is allowed per cut-off List
  • The university dashboard will now be an interactive one where students will be able to see the number of seats up for grabs and seats left so that students dont end up in colleges with no seats
  • Yoga , which was a part of the sports quota in the University till the last year will now be a category under the Extra Curricular Activities
  • The University has now included Modern Indian Languages in the list of academic subjects in order to prevent the 2.5 percent deduction of marks that took place until last year while counting best of four
  • Admission portal will now be mobile friendly and can even run on 2G network
  • The National Testing Agency will be conducting entrance exams for 180 courses and 11 undergraduate programmes of the University
  • There will be separate cut-offs for students belonging  to EWS category
  • All eight evening colleges will now carry out their admission process between 11 am and 5pm to ensure that outstation students do not face any inconvenience.
  • The varsity has now made it mandatory for departments to carry out forensic examination of marksheet and documents submitted for postgraduate admissions.
  • The varsity has tied up with the CBSE and gained access to its database of results from 2014 to 2019 to avoid discrepancies
  • DU has also advised the colleges that give relaxation to women in cut-offs to have a uniform policy and have a fixed percentage of relaxation
