A traditional Convocation ceremony is just a program to award the meritorious students of a College/University, who have worked with zeal, passion, and commitment in their career. But at ITM University, the degrees are awarded by bestowing a sense of responsibility. These responsibilities are passed on to the students in the hope that they will carry the light of knowledge further in their life.
The pre-convocation academic conclave has been started bearing this purpose in mind. It gives a platform to renowned personalities to come together and debate and share their experiences on issues of national and international importance. The 3rd Academic Conclave featured famous personalities with illustrious career records from different walks of life. Each speaker motivated the students in his/her distinct style during the 5-hour long session. Various issues of Democracy, Constitution, History, Culture, and medical fields were discussed during the show.
Famous writer and journalist, Sri Ravish Kumar complemented the crowd by comparing it with JNU, New Delhi. He focused his speech on the ultimate tool of Democracy which is ‘Voice’. Encouraging everyone to be authentic and soft in their language, he taught the lesson of fearlessness. Also, Theatre Director, Sri Ratan Thiyam emphasized the need to create more national Art and cultural bodies to preserve the loosening thread of our heritage and roots.
Motivating the students was Paralympics winner Smt. Deepa Malik, who encouraged everyone to break the social barriers and the need to be liked. She narrated her own story full of criticism and hardships. For her inspirational talk, she was given Standing Ovation by the crowd two times.
The calm and humble composure of the founder of DGSS, Sri Chandi Prasad Bhatt also encouraged the students to save the environment and use simplicity as a tool to achieve success. The solidity and true strength of character was displayed by Rtd. General Dalbir Suhag. His recollection of various nationally important missions showed that anything can be achieved by being brave and just in your actions.
In his talk, the energetic composure and path-breaking confidence in the voice of founder of Safai Karmachari Andolan, Sri Bezwada Wilson compelled the students to open their mind and think differently towards the challenges faced by Scavenging people. Even Professor MK Bhan insisted on the importance of finding one's purpose before anything else by continuous improvisation and practice.
The program was soon joined by Hon. Governor of J&K, Sri Satya Pal Malik who declared the youth of the country as powerful and potent weapons of democracy. He was reluctant about the idea that, our country’s present state can be altered by changing the mindset of our young generation.
