April 24th 2018, Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University organized its 9th 'University Honour Ceremony' to honour its hundreds of meritorious & talented students. The ceremony is held annually at LPU to recognize students’ excellent achievements gained by students throughout the session. This year, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal honoured 617 achiever students with Rs 22 Lakh Cash Prizes. University Rolls of Honour was also bestowed upon students for their excellence in academics, research, sports, cultural activities & community services. In this ceremony, Chairman, Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Prof Ashok K Saxena and others from ISCA also chaired the prestigious ceremony.

617 Achiever-students receive prizes worth 22 Lakhs at LPU’s 9th Annual Honour Ceremony

In this ceremony, 468 academic students, 104 sports students and 45 students from cultural and community services were awarded not only with the cash prizes but also with love from the LPU family and above all, love from the parents of the award winners. LPU students placed internationally in top countries including USA, UK; great performers including LPU Afreen Group performed at Indian reality show Rising Star, telecasted at Colors channel; the Best NCC Cadet; Republic Day Participants; Marathon Winner; All AIU winners were also honoured with special illustrations to encourage other on-looking students. The parents of the students from different states of India and other countries, too, witnessed the glittering honouring ceremony of their wards.

Addressing illustrious students, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal inspired them: “Keep on performing the best to be the best among others as per your passion and interest in the areas of your liking. I advise you all to convert your worries and problems into challenges to be ever successful. If we face challenges positively, we surely progress.” Thanking parents of the students in reposing their faith in the doings of the university, Chancellor Mr. Mittal said: “I am happy to share that LPU not only strives to impart world class education but also shape students into holistic human beings. Our students secure jobs even many months before they appear for their final examinations. In fact, the major strength of LPU is the placement of its students in the top companies of the world including Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and more where students are presently working at packages of more than Rs. One Crore.”

Feeling immensely happy on the occasion, Chairman, Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), (Prof) Ashok k Saxena said, “Congratulations to all the award winners for making your nation, parents, and institution proud. Knowing such high achievements of students, I am sure that our nation is guided towards the right direction”. 

Appreciating the university environment as the best, many of the proud parents shared their views in appreciation of the university and its teachers. Three of the awarded students Chelsea Joseph, Aalya Ashraf & Gurpreet Kaur who are now in BioSciences, ECE & Education programs, respectively, shared unanimously that LPU has transformed them into hard-working scholars to get an A+ grade in all the courses.  Ambika Mishra & Rahul Panwar, who participated in National Republic Day Parade in New Delhi were very humble in accepting that whatever they are today is only due to LPU teachings. The parents of B.Sc (Health and Physical Education) student Sani Prasad Bhagat, who hails from Singtam (Sikkim), shared that their decision to get their ward enrolled at so far off LPU from their home-town has proved out as the supreme decision. Students from BA (Performing Arts) ‘Afreen Group’ shared, “LPU does not only educate you, it exposes and make you independent. BA (Performing Arts) final year student William Koti was jubilant while saying: "This honor means much to me. Had I not joined LPU, I would not have got chances to present my talent at national daises.”
