28th April 2018, Jalandhar: Thousands of Lovely Professional University alumni from Canada, America, England, Australia, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab and more gathered at LPU campus for annual alumni meet ‘Home Coming-2018’. LPU had planned the grand alumni meet to recognize and celebrate the global achievements of its eminent graduates. Utilizing the whole day to the full, LPU alumni from all over the world and the country became nostalgic and shared great memories of the yesteryears with their teachers, classmates, and friends. The alumni accessed their respective classrooms, the sports ground where they used to play different games; hostel rooms where they lived home like life; met their mentors and teachers who shaped them to be truly global citizens, and relived varied experiential moments of meaningful and fun-filled days spent at their alma mater- LPU.
Celebrating their massive gathering, all of them left no stone unturned to make their stay at the campus a great day of significance. LPU alumni also came forward with corporate social responsibility and donated 100+ school bags and stationery items to the poor children of the nearby villages. On the occasion, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal congratulated all alumni on LPU being ranked No.2 in India in Management (Outreach and Inclusivity parameter) declared by Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Alumni Award 2017-18 for ‘Excellence in Academics’ was bestowed upon Dr. Vijay Kumar (Ph.D. Chemistry 2011), who is presently Research Officer with Government of India. Both Ankur Mehta (2014), core member special interest group at State Innovation Cell, Hyderabad and Tejdeep Singh Randhawa (MBA- 2007), who is Head (sales and marketing) at SPS hospitals, received Professional Excellence awards. The best alumni chapter award was presented to alumni association ‘Hyderabad & Bangalore Chapters’ in appreciation of its continued commitment to the LPU vision, growth and development of the society. Similarly, Mudit Goel, Working as Associate Consultant at PWC (New York, USA); Sonia Narang, Quality Assurance Engineer at Amazon (Seattle,USA); Punica Bhardwaj, Associate Analyst at Ernst & Young (Florida, USA); Sagar Anand, Senior Software Engineer at Automation Anywhere (San Jose, USA); and Nazifi Umar, Assistant Lecturer at NorthWest University, (Kano, Nigeria) were honored as LPU Ambassadors.
The alumni were honored for being great researchers, entrepreneurs, leaders, brand ambassadors in their fields and more. One of the alumni, Javid Parsa was honored for his social entrepreneurial endeavors for being the Co-Founder of ‘Parsa’ food chain. His company has 5 franchises in the beautiful valley of Kashmir and planning to expand it to metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and others. He is also famous for his ‘Human Library’. Apart from being an entrepreneur, Javid Parsa is a social activist, writer, and a poet.
Chairing the panel discussion, LPU alumni Mr. Nipun Jaiswal (ECE-2011) Tech Director at Pyramid Security and Forensics and also the recipient of Technology Leadership award along with Founder CEO at Vélmenni, Deepak Solanki (B.Tech ECE-2011); Co-Founder of ‘Parsa’ food chain Mr. Javid Parsa and Renowned RJ from Jammu Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, Ms Shwetima shared success mantras.
On this occasion, Jalandhar and Chandigarh Alumni Chapters took an Initiative to donate school essentials (Bags, Geometry boxes, and notebooks) to poor children of nearby villages. The alumni association aimed to collect contributions up to INR 50,000 but with the help of generous donations received, the collection ended up by 37% more than the targeted amount, up to 70,000. The LPU alumni association has also launched ‘Student Enrichment Fund’ under which educational expenses of academically strong students up to an extent will be sponsored by Alumni association.
