14th April 2018, Jalandhar: School of Journalism, Film Production, Creative and Fine Arts at Lovely Professional University organized a national conference on ‘Contemporary Perspectives in Design and Creative Arts’.  125+ researchers, artists, Designers, professors, photographers, former journalists and industry experts across India gathered at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium to share knowledge and advances made in their respective fields. The conference covered a thick parallel difference between ancient and modern art perspectives. The conference remained entirely focussed on professional and diversifying perspectives towards the modern art and understanding the importance of creativity in designing perspective. Some of the prominent participant- institutions at the conference were Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar), Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology and Kurukshetra University (Haryana), MakhanLal Chaturvedi University, Aligarh University, Punjab University along with 3 Central Universities.

The five technical sessions of the conference had display and presentations of 180+ research papers and received 67 short film entries all across the globe from Iran, Bangladesh, USA, Sri Lanka, UK, and Ireland. LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal and Pro-Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal welcomed the professionals and experts at the conference. Addressing the massive Journalism, Film and Creative Arts fraternity on ‘Need to develop Sensitivity towards realism of Art’, keynote speaker Diwan Manna (Renowned Curator, Artist, and Photographer) shared his ‘Success Mantra’ of “energy, hard-work curiosity and consistency”. Internationally acclaimed photographer with an outstanding vision towards the modern art, Mr. Manna also appreciated the writers, poets such as ‘Bulleh Shah’, ‘Shiv Kumar Batalvi’ and ‘Surjit Patar’ for their valuable contribution towards art. He said: “to know the real meaning of art, one must look for intensity, passion, creativity, and sensitivity in every art form.”

Similarly, keynote speaker Deepak Aggarwal, Executive Creative Director, PointNine Lintas, said, “one must seek innovation, line up creativity and think out of the box to understand designing”. He added, “Animation in a film or advertisement can drive emotions and can change the meaning of a video in an impressive way”. Chairing the technical session, Mr. Dinesh, former Associate Editor of The Tribune said, ‘Journalism is a very noble field and one has to take this job seriously.’ He also added,” Instead of focusing on sensationalism, a journalist should focus on the realism of the news.”

LPU students during the conference shared: “The conference has proved a boon for us as we have come to know much about our field, profession, duties, and devotion. The high-profile experts have explained all about contemporary art and various perspectives parallel to an ancient era that can be used today. We have come to know about various approaches to consider in our respective fields. Through this conference, we all are inspired to become an integral part of ever-growing art and design at the national level.”
