Jalandhar, September 20, 2018: Aiming to support developer and entrepreneurship, SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products) Labs organized 42-hour long ‘Code with Purpose’ Hackathon at Lovely Professional University (LPU) Campus. With unique and interesting domains to work on and many hours to code for, LPU students transformed their ideas into innovative solutions for the given problems. Participating 13 teams of 4 students each worked for 42 hours at a stretch staying at the campus to churn out solutions for supporting ‘United Nations Sustainable Development Goals’. On this occasion, celebrating diversity and equality at workplaces, LPU also inaugurated a unique Girls’ Lounge ‘Female Quotient’ at the Campus for inspiring girl-students.
First Prize Winning Team ‘Stux Net’ worked on ‘Recruitment Management System’ to win Rs 5000 & internship for one year with SAP partner. Team leader Soumyajit Dutta shared: “Working on a real-world problem, we jointly created a recruitment management system in order to solve the problems that the recruiters are facing the world over.” Team ‘Maniacs’ declared 1st runner-up with a cash prize of Rs 3000 and team ‘Heatrack’ 2nd runner-up with Rs 2000 prize. Both of these teams worked on the projects ‘Real Time-Learning Management System’ and ‘Learning Management System’ respectively. Students used technology based on SAP tools, Cloud Foundry, Build.me, & Chatbot.
Education Head from SAP Rahul Sachdeva, who conducted the Hackathon with his team, holds: “Ideas are responsible for the progression and prosperity of humans – without them, we would still be living in prehistoric times.” SAP is a German software company whose products allow businesses to track customer and business interactions. The SAP is especially well-known for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and data management programs. In fact, SAP is supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education; gender-equality; affordable and clean energy; decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation and infrastructure; and, more to ensure prosperity for all by 2030.
Worth mentioning, for a Hackathon, passionate students of technology and business development participate continuously for slated time-slab of days & nights together. They form diverse teams, make their special area and add their expertise to create a solution for the given problem. Here, students also learn new things from mentors and team-mates. So, it helps in seeing a problem from multiple perspectives to reach a positive solution.
