29th January 2018: Jalandhar:When India celebrated its 69th Republic Day with a customary display of military might and cultural diversity through a massive parade, Lovely Professional University is NSS Volunteer Ambika Mishra was also an important part of this “rare” quoted celebration this time.
The celebration became exceptional as Heads of State and Government from 10 Southeast Asian countries attended it as Chief Guests. During Republic Day celebration, B.Tech ECE 2nd year student Ambika of LPU was not only a proud part of parading NSS contingent in the morning session but also performed Kathak dance at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the evening hours. Ambika performed before the elite guests on passion full patriotic song “Vande Mataram”, sung by the queen of melodies of India-Lata Mangeshkar.
LPU student Ambika was selected from 15 lakhs of NSS volunteer students from all across the country for her special parading and performing skills. Usually, volunteers are selected either for parade or performance but Ambika stood fortunate to be selected for the both, and that too, to present before a galaxy of world leaders.
Ambika will now also be awarded prestigious testimonials from the President of India for her grand participation. Hailing from West Bengal (Barrackpur) Ambika has completed 145 hours of NSS service within a year, and so got this opportunity by excelling in a selection camp organized for seven Northern states. She shares: “With such a unique participation I am flowing and flying in the skies of amazement and excitement. My joy knows no bound. I am feeling like a national star. I accord applauding thanks to my university LPU, where I am being perfectly groomed and motivated by my devoted and dedicated teachers.”
Congratulating Ambika for displaying great cultural and social service talent instead of her being a technology-based student, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal said: “I am happy and proud that once again one of our talented students has made others realize that nestling of students’ passions is very important. Had our teachers not identified the true worth in Ambika, she would have been devoid of the rare celebrations at this Republic Day in New Delhi.
