Entrepreneurial mindset is about seeing challenges as an opportunity
Date: March 15, 2021
JK Lakshmipat University organized a webinar with Mr. Apoorv Bamba on “Reimagining careers during Pandemic”. Apoorv is the Co-Founder & CEO of Ingenious Faces and is currently busy disrupting the perception of success through transformative learning frameworks across emerging economies. He is also a Community Council Member at Silicon Cape and Co-founder at Mashauri. He has previously founded Startup Safari (Acquired by WeeTracker) & Human Circle.
In the webinar Apoorv discussed three most important things for employability in the present scenario. He said to be employable you must have good communication skills, Personal development & Entrepreneurial mindset. He added, “The skill sets that make you employable or get you jobs are changing every year and entrepreneurial thinking helps you stay relevant and true to the times around you.” Along with that he explained the importance of presenting oneself and creating a personal brand. Communication skills on the other hand is the key to present those skills in front of the employers.
He explained about the importance of entrepreneurship and how entrepreneurial mindset can help students grow a career. He said that what differentiates others from entrepreneurs is that they see every challenge as an opportunity to solve a problem and bring in ways to resolve it. He mentioned how the global pandemic was seen as a crisis, but a lot of entrepreneurs used this as an opportunity to build things and grow.
“Entrepreneurial mindset is about seeing challenges as opportunities. The pandemic has affected so many lives but so many entrepreneurs have used this as an opportunity to build something or grow something specially in the education field like how everything has transformed from physical to virtual. This is how an entrepreneurial mindset works, you see a challenge and instead of looking at it as a problem you find an opportunity in that challenge and how can I build value in that”, said Apoorv during the webinar explaining about the importance of having a mindset of entrepreneurs.
Being an entrepreneur is not just about opening a company of yours, but about creating an expertise among students in a particular industry. Startup labs inside the University helps students indulge into their interests at deeper levels. The research they do for their work as a part of curriculum later helps them in the jobs they apply for. Employers prefer employees who have previously tried doing something of their own in the past. Today’s employers want to see more than just classroom knowledge and a degree. A course on entrepreneurship can help them learn and make them do much more than academics, said Apoorv during the discussion.
He added “To have a startup lab as a part of an MBA is very new. There are few Universities that do it globally but in India there are very few universities actually look at. They say entrepreneurship you can do simultaneously but not as a part of curriculum. JKLU is a pioneer in this and it introduced an entire course in entrepreneurship when it’s not yet compulsory.”
The main focus of work for a student while choosing an MBA Program should be Communication skills, Teamwork Projects, Personal development, and Entrepreneurial mindset.

First virtual business lab for management students in Rajasthan
Date: Aug 04, 2020
In the times of COVID-19 pandemic when the education has become online and the future of education completely depends upon experiential learning, leading higher education institute JK Lakshmipat University, in collaboration with All India Management Association (AIMA), today unveiled the first-ever virtual lab for management students for business stimulation exercises. Dr R L Raina, Vice Chancellor, JK Lakshmipat University, in his his welcome address, mentioned that the BizLab will expose students to real economic, environmental and business issues related to finance, operations, marketing and other business functions and that with the support of AIMA, it can develop and evolve as the most effective learning tool for management in times to come.
The digital business laboratory was inaugurated virtually by Chief Guest of the event, Dr Ajay Data, Founder & CEO, Data XGen Technologies, in the presence of dignitaries including Mr H.P. Singhania, Vice Chairman & MD, JK Paper Ltd, Mr Neeraj Kapoor, Director, AIMA, Dr R L Raina, Vice Chancellor, JKLU and Mr Asheesh Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, JKLU.
JKLU’s Pro ViceChancellor, Prof Asheesh Gupta said, “For us, the establishment of the AIMA Biz Lab at JKLU, the first in Rajasthan, marks a very purposeful milestone. There is conclusive scientific evidence that we learn best by doing. Management education requires being able to integrate principles and theories with business realities allowing learners to practice these in near-real-life situations - learning that cuts through functional silos – exactly as problems rarely come packaged as purely marketing or organisational or finance problems. The purpose of our MBA programme, beyond imparting domain knowledge, is to help students learn how to integrate and use knowledge that is available and to be life-long learners. The AIMA Biz Lab, is a strategic step in this direction because AIMA also brings the advantage of being industry and market backed and understands the management students’ capabilities.”
Mr H.P. Singhania, Vice Chairman & MD, JK Paper Ltd., said, “Higher education today should be able to translate into employability or the ability of people to do things. They should be able to become useful and contributing members of society. A broader degree of knowledge and skills can be obtained from an inter-disciplinary programme, whereby people can come out with more useful skills rather than mere technical knowledge”.
Echoing the sentiments of Mr Singhania, Mr Neeraj Kapoor, Director, AIMA, said education has to be contemporized. “Being stuck with knowledge in a single field or aspect is very detrimental for students. They should be industry ready and have the ability to take up challenges. In such unprecedented times, we need to be innovating all the time. Education should be such that it should prepare us for crisis management, and we need to look at management education in a different way, using the four pillars of using technology, skilling yourself, having an entrepreneurial mindset and continuous learning. The idea of the business lab is to expose the students about what is happening to the management world. It would be enhancing their capability and aiding their learning.”
Adding more on the technological boon the country is witnessing currently, Dr Ajay Data, Founder & CEO, Data XGen Technologies, said, “We are in a very unique situation. If you look at the startup ecosystem in the past, the most valuable startups were those who could solve a large problem. Today we have thousands of problems and technology is helping us solve them more conveniently. More than 80 percent of the people are conveniently working from home today. Events are getting delivered online. I was shocked when I saw bhajan and kirtans in visual meetings. This is the new normal for us. Same is with education. People who haven’t updated themselves are getting left behind. Education has become more inclusive and we need to create more hirable and ready individuals from universities. With AIMA, we have a lot of industry knowledge that will come in and it will help bridge the gap in academics.” Dr R L Raina and Mr Asheesh Gupta thanked and congratulated all the dignitaries, faculty, staff and students for being a part of the milestone in JKLU’s academic advancements.
