"The journey from Pune to Kharagpur and Kharagpur to Google Mount View in California has been quite exciting. I had a great experience working there as an intern. A job offer is the icing on the cake." - Abhishek Pant
India has had a history of lending its brillinat minds to the top tech companies of the world. Google with India-born Sundar Pichai as its CEO, is no exception. With perhaps the highest pay package offer, Google has recruited Abhishek Pant, a 22 year old student from IIT Kharagpur. Google has offered Abhishek a whopping 2 Crore annual package including Stock Options at Google Inc. The young boy is a resident of the city of Pune and had interned with the Search Engine Giant for three months in May this year.
Earlier this year, Abhishek went through a thorough process which included coding in a Google document and interview by the Project Manager to win an internship at Google office in California. After internship, he went through a couple of rounds of meticulous interview before being offered the dream role.
Born and brought up in US, Abhishek moved to India with his parents in 2006. While his parents were skeptical if he would be able to absorb himself in the Indian Educational system, Abhishek surprised them with an exceptional performance in his 10th Board Exams where he scored a whopping 97.6% and became the city topper. His academic journey since then has been full of singular performances.
Talking about his journey from IIT Kharagpur to Google, California, an overjoyed Pant said "The journey from Pune to Kharagpur and Kharagpur to Google Mount View in California has been quite exciting. I had a great experience working there as an intern. A job offer is the icing on the cake."
Abhishek has not been assigned any Projects yet but will join the Design Solutions Team next year in September. While explaining about his role with the Design Team he said that he is beyond excited and is looking forward to work with the exceptional team in creating solutions to new and interesting engineering problems.
Abhishek Pant is also excited about the perks of working with Google, one of which is the exquisite cuisine available at the cafeteria. Abhishek reveals that the cafeteria offers delicacies to the employees from a wide variety of cuisines like South American, Italian, Japanese, Mexican etc. Abhishek gushed that there is a dedicated cafeteria for Indian food too.
The Assistant Registrar at the Career Development Center, Shantanu Das views the offer as a good opportunity for Abhishek but have largely remained unobtrusive saying that the Institute has seen placements from Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Deutsche Bank etc. with pay package in the range of Rs. 19 Lakh to Rs. 30 Lakh per annum. IIT Kharagpur Faculty has remained tight lipped about campus placements over the years in order to keep attention focused on education quality.
