Dr. Dadas

Dr. Anand Rao B. Dadas is presently working as a Director at Neville Wadia Institute of Management Studies & Research (Since 2012, Merit and Vacancy Based). His educational qualifications include MBA, MPM, M.Com. M.Sc., DLL&LW, M.Phil., Ph.D., and D.Litt.

He has 20 years of teaching experience, inclusive of 13 years of academic, research, and extension activities for MBA and Research programmes in Savitribai Phule Pune University. His teaching experience is in Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Labour Welfare, Training & development, Research Methodology and related Management Subjects.

Dr. Dadas has held multiple administrative positions like Director for GDPI centre, DTE (for MBA Admission Process, Maharashtra);  CAP Director for MBA, PGDBM & MBS Programme of Savitribai Phule Pune University; Member, Board of Studies, Savitribai Phule Pune University; Member, Faculty Council, various Institutions; Member, National Eligibility Test (NET) Evaluation Panel of University Grants Commission (UGC); Nodal officer, Indian Society for Training and Development, Delhi; Student Welfare Officer; Professor at Neville Wadia Institute of Management Studies & Research and Associate Professor in Business Administration.

Dr. Dadas has 45 Publications in Journals and Proceedings and 7 books to his credit. He guided 3 Ph.D. scholars for their Doctoral Degree and 200 MBA candidates. 06 Ph.D. Scholars will submit theses very shortly. He has examined more than 8 Ph.D. and 2 of M.Phil. & M.B.A. theses. He is serving as Editor, Reviewer and Board member for 7 Journals.

Dr. Anand has received awards including Life Time Achievement Awards, Best Teacher Award, Rotary International Service Awards, etc. from Educational Institutions, NGOs, National Bodies, and International organizations. He has visited more than 50 Universities, Colleges and other Institutions of Higher Education for assessment, affiliation, recognition, accreditation, approval, audit and other academic activities, etc.

Dr. Anand has hosted several National and International discussions and meetings. Dr. Dadas has delivered lectures in National and International workshops, conferences, seminars, Invited Lectures, other programmes, events etc. which exceed 100. He is on the Expert Committees of National level councils, UGC, Universities, Statutory Bodies, NGO, etc. He is also a member of various Professional and Academic Bodies, Editorial Boards, Advisory Boards and Reviewers Panel of National and International Journals. He also has a membership in professional bodies like AIMS, AMIMA, MISTD, AMMI, MCCIA, DCCIA and Management Teachers Consortium – Global.

The contribution of this industry is immense in nation-building. It is the most satisfying profession, therefore. As the old adage goes “teach them how to fish and you will feed them for a lifetime”. This aspect of the profession is fulfilling.

My leadership style can be best described as democratic and participative leadership.  It is based on the philosophy that the best can be extracted only when leeway is given and involvement is encouraged. Being first among equals is the best way for me.

Motivating and encouraging staff to think out of the box and work towards new goals with vigor is probably the most challenging task I continue to face.

My interaction with industry has been extensive. The skills that stand out as the most important skills are:

  1. Positive approach and an open mind willing to embrace change.
  2. Good communication skills:  as interaction within and outside the organizations can drive fortunes.
  3. Team playing abilities.

We have several opportunities for interactions. Especially before any event, guest lecture or conference to be held, I make it a point to interact with students highlighting the importance and the purpose of the event. This also gives them an understanding of the how each of our activities is aligned with our vision.

Creating the future and driving change through ethical means and in a socially responsible way could sum up the ideal culture we would like to create. Designing everything with a view creating an ecosystem that can help create this culture is our prime endeavor.

The eagerness to learn and progress without compromising on principles is the most desired quality any student must possess.

We would like to increase our student intake and expand and improve the infrastructure with a view to providing students an environment conducive to learning.

Suggestions to the current youth who are going to become the future managers

My advice to all future managers is to untiringly work towards self-development as that is the key to success, everything else is a support and not the pillar.
