4th November, 2017, Hyderabad: ICFAI Law School a constituent of ICFAI University, Hyderabad, has organized one-day seminar on “Legal Education and Profession” - A Convergence today at ICFAI University Campus, Dontanpally. The Chief Guest of the seminar, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Chelameswar, Judge Supreme Court of India said that the legal education system has witnessed a paradigm shift. The advancement of technology has proven that the need to have a photographic memory to make a good lawyer has become redundant. He highlighted that the present legal education system and its adequacy to train the students to bring out the proposition of law to the facts is to be constantly achieved by the law schools to meet the emerging challenges of the legal system. He further stated that legal education should be designed in such a way that students be trained in areas which are desirable and new like environmental law, Intellectual Property Rights etc., suiting the needs of the legal system. He also mentioned that there are discrepancies in the qualitative and teaching methods across various law schools which are required to be dealt with in a suitable manner. He congratulated the ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad for organizing this seminar to deliberate on the emerging issues to bring about changes in the legal education system.

Prof. J. Mahendar Reddy, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI University, emphasized the quality in education is of utmost importance and said it can be achieved by having socially relevant curriculum, by having a student-centric approach with the faculty playing the role of a facilitator, by having a continuous evaluation and feedback, by incorporating compulsory student internship and faculty focus on research.

The second experiment focused on fusing other disciplines of education like technology, forensic sciences, accountancy with legal education in order to make the students understand the matter of fact as well as law in a holistic manner. He expressed his wish that the third experiment should be a management and law to address various policies arising in the commercial business world and he hoped that this seminar will help in achieving the same.
