Hyderabad, April 12, 2019: To address the growing need of engineering talent with skills in digital technology, TCS, in partnership with GITAM Deemed to be University is launching a new curriculum for 4 years undergraduate program in Computer Science titled “Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS)” from 2019 academic year. Initiating this historical step both the organizations signed MoU here on Friday at GITAM University.
TCS Academic Interface Program Head, Mr Chandra Koduru and GITAM Registrar, Prof. KVGD Balaji exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of GITAM in-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Sivaramakrishna and GITAM Hyderabad Campus, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Sivaprasad.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Chandra Koduru, TCS Academic Interface Programme Head, informed that the new CSBS curriculum ‘aims to ensure that the students graduating from the program not only know the core topics of Computer Science but also develop an equal appreciation of humanities, management sciences, and human values’. The students are also exposed to emerging topics such as Analytics, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, etc to make them industry ready at the end of four years of study, he added.
He further informed that TCS will support these colleges by training and developing their faculty, organizing guest lectures by expert practitioners, and engaging in continuous assessment of students. He announced that TCS will offer internships to select students and involve them in meaningful projects to provide first-hand exposure to a real-life business problem. We approached All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for approval and received a positive response, he added.
GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K. Sivaramakrishna said that around 5000 GITAM students are working in TCS and proud to associate with the organization. He mentioned that the university is giving high priority to industrial relations for academic excellence. GITAM Registrar Prof. KVGD Balaji said that the new CSBS program is available in all GITAM campuses from 2019 academic year.
