Hyderabad, February 25, 2019: ‘Human civilization would not have advanced as it has without materials. They have the most significant impact on society, ranging from the most ancient kinds to those remaking the 21st century’ said Prof. N.Siva Prasad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM, Hyderabad. He graced as chief guest in the valedictory session of the two-day national conference on ‘Physics and Chemistry of Functional Materials-2019’ at GITAM Hyderabad on 22nd February 2019. He expressed unhappiness that our country is far behind in the field of metallurgy when compared with Russia. We have excellent human resources in the fields of Space, Nuclear, Turbine Blades and Railway traction, but the materials are not available to make use of their services, he expressed his dismay. Materials became very important, do the new finding in this area he appealed to the budding researchers.
Prof. V. Seshubai, Hyderabad Central University graced as a guest of honor and said that these kinds of conferences are very useful and it gives us an overall picture. Prof. S.Kannan, BARC, Mumbai exhorted a mantra to the budding researches that develop, deploy and deliver in the large interest of the society. Dr. T.Rajasekharan, Retd. Scientist, DMRL this conference provided knowledge about the capacity of different groups.
GITAM Resident Director DVVSR Varma, School of Technology Principal Prof. Ch.Sanjay, School of Science Principal Prof. G.A.Rama Rao, Conference Convenor Dr. R.Balaji Rao also took part in the valedictory session. The conference ended vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sai Preethi.
T.Iswarya, HCU, Syam Sundar Gambeer, GITAM, Ronit Ganguli, IITH, B.Venkateswarlu, School of Physics, UoH, Y. Manjula, NIT, Neelesh Ingale, IIT Mumbai, B.Sc. student Dakshina Sarma and B.Tech final year student Siddhartha Dhanekula received best presentation awards. About 115 delegates across the country took part in the two-day national conference and actively participated in presentations, experiments, deliberations, etc.
