GIBS Business School celebrated its Splendid and reverberating event ‘STUDENT OF THE YEAR’ on 20th November 2016 at GIBS Global Campus, Amphi Theatre. The event was initiated with the inaugural dance, then welcoming the Chief Guest, Mr. Ashok Dash – ICT Health Technology, the Guest of Honour Ms. Priya Gautam – APAC regional Manager, Mr. BL Goyal – GIBS Chairman, Mr. Ritesh Goyal – GIBS Managing Director and Dr. Aparna Rao GIBS Director. The event attracted more than 350+ guests and also marked the presence of Corporates Tycoons, Dignitaries from Educational Institutions, Academicians and Students.
The evening was made more colourful with Group dances and trendy fashion show by GIBS students. The highlight of the event was marked by Mr. Kamlesh Patel, who is an actor known for the reality dance show, Dance India Dance. He conquered physical disability to become a wonder dancer. The purpose of the evening was to showcase the students’ Academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities. Medals were distributed to students who excelled in Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities at the hands of the dignitaries. At last, the most awaited STUDENT OF THE YEAR award was unfurled by the guest. The award was conquered by Bharathi Kushwaha, an MBA student of 2015-2017 batch. This award was given considering the performances meeting the following Criteria; Academic Excellence, Active participation in Sports, Campus Involvement, Leadership, Soft Skills, Punctuality & Dedication, Special Talents, Achievements, Initiative in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The program was an amalgamation of various hues and the students spread the colours of peace and happiness. Finally, the students enjoyed emerging Rock Band Show by The Jois Projects Team and DJ followed by dinner. The following awards were given during the event:
Student of the Year Award
Mr. Ritesh Goyal – GIBS Managing Director unfurled the result as the award was conquered by the student Bharathi Kushwaha, an MBA student of 2015- 2017 batch. The pride trophy & cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- was bestowed considering her overall performance meeting the following Criteria; Academic Excellence, Attendance, Active participation in Sports, Cultural, Campus Involvement, Soft Skills, Punctuality & Dedication, Initiative in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It was a very proud moment for her and a huge confidence boost for the juniors.
The victorious students in sports competition were awarded for their achievements by the guests, Mr. Md. Saeeduddin – Project Manager of Aviva Global Services & Mr. Dasrathan – Corporate from Banking Sector. GIBS Students actively participated in various team and individual sports events with overwhelming enthusiasm like Outdoor & Indoor games, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Throwball, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom etc.
Best Academics Award
GIBS Students always aspire to be the absolute finest in academics. Kiran Eshwar, an MBA student of 2015 - 2017 batch was awarded for the ‘Best Academics’ by the guest Mr. Sanjeev Bansal – CEO, Dream Alive. This award recognized his intriguing academic performance in each of the disciplines of academic life and strong contributions towards GIBS.
Best Attendance Award
Regular Attendance is vital for any student to be successful in their Academics. To build up their internal motivation to attend more and aim higher, GIBS Business School strives for perfection and regular attendance. Mr. Indrajeet Roy (MBA student of 2015- 2017 Batch) was bestowed with ‘Best Attendance Award’ by chief Guest Mr. Shashi Mohan – Director of Cyber for his 100% attendance in an academic year.
Best Talent (Male) Award
This award was bestowed to Syed Faizal (MBA student of 2015- 2017 Batch) by Mr. Nand Kishore Tiwari – Chief Editor of Samachar Parivartan. The award aimed at recognizing multi-talent & all-round skills in academics and other fields.
Best Talent (Female) Award
This award was bestowed to Harshitha (MBA student of 2015-2017 Batch) by Ms. Sneha Chandrasekhar – CEO/Founder of Black & White Tech Writing Solutions Pvt Ltd. This award was honoured for her outstanding, multi-skills and for making good use of the opportunity at GIBS to gain as much knowledge and master a variety of skills to equip herself with the relevant skills in order to remain competitive amongst students.
Highlights of “Student of the Year”
Mr. Kamlesh Patel’s Performance
The highlight of the event was Mr. Kamlesh Patel – who is an actor; known for the reality dance show ‘Dance India Dance’ (2009). Being a physically disabled person, his performance went beyond the typical theatrical presentation on stage. In fact, GIBS had video clips of his achievements which the audience could tour before the performance. He grabbed the audience’s attention with his peculiar performance and got a big round of applause with a standing ovation.
He also encouraged GIBS Students with his valuable speech on Self-confidence and motivated with the valuable sayings; “Nothing is Impossible - Everything is Possible” was one of the best sayings which boosted students’ energy.
Brand Ambassador - GIBS
This was intended to honor the Brand Ambassador’s endowment to Ms. Shraddha Patil and Ms. Sagarika Ghosh (MBA students of 2015- 2017 Batch) by Mr. Ashwini Kumar – Microsoft & Mr. Hemanth Sharma – IIMB Alumni. This was eminent to recognize the Best Brand Ambassadors who had been genuinely into the endorsement of any brand’s mission in GIBS. They have been recognized the trust-centric cultures, as they consistently delivered expectations and expand the boundaries of quality in various fields.
The fading lights on stage sashayed up the ramp at the fashion show based on the theme ‘BIKE NIGHT – EMERGING THE STYLE’. The students had an opportunity to engage with the luxury depicted rich fashion by dressing up in Western attire. The show was aimed to highlight both the best of city bikes and fashion trends for riding.
The Jois Project Team
The Massive Event, Student of the Year of GIBS was fun frolic all the way. The event was emerged with the Rock Band Live Show by The Jois Project team who collaborated with various renowned singers and bands to produce popular music flavoured by the elements of music and mainstream fusion.
