1.Kindly tell us about your experience in the education industry and what makes it the best industry to work in?
My experience in the educational institutions has been more than one decade. I have had the privilege to work in both manufacturing as well as services industry. But working with educational institutions has been an exhilarating experience. The work satisfaction which an academician derives is immense. Not only the Faculty members utilizes their knowledge but also learns and hones their skills in the whole process. Moreover, it is a social service to the nation by building its human resources. Imparting education is a very noble profession and commands respect not only from the students but from the whole society.
2.Any of the significant challenges you faced as a Head of Regional Group of Institutions?
There are a lot of challenges such as bringing the students, who comes with varying standards of knowledge and come from various parts of the country, to a threshold level of business education.
3. How does your curriculum ensure best practices of industry?
We try to update our curriculum in sync with the latest developments in the economy and business world.
4. What goals do you have in your mind for Regional Group of Institutions?
To facilitate the outcome of best knowledge, attitude and skills.
5. Tell us about the placements and internships of the management students?
We have a unique model of sending our students for internships after every semester. The placement track record also have been quite encouraging.
6. How do you build a positive school culture or climate?
By fostering a friendly environment and learning climate.
7. What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
Our philosophy of leadership is to facilitate in building new leaders. My leadership style is consensual and democratic.
8. Being a professor yourselves and to be involved in the deep decision makings of the institute, how important do you feel the need of the Top Managements of various institutes to be involved in daily decision makings ?
We feel that the Top Management is responsible for giving strategic direction to the institution. They should delegate the daily decision makings to the other senior academicians.
9. What would be your ideal school environment, and how would you encourage that kind of culture?
Our ideal school/college environment would be to create an academic culture so that the students may learn new skills, be it in their course curriculum or arts, dramatics, debate, music or sports.
10. Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
Current youth and aspiring students should not rush to seek a job in the middle of their full-time academic course. They should first complete their course with full dedication. Even after joining the employment, the person should never stop his/her learning and academic pursuits.
Brief profile of Dr. MUKUL JAIN
Dr. Mukul Jain is a ‘Director & Professor' to St. Thomas Management Institute, located at Gurgaon & Jhajjar, Haryana (an institution affiliated to Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak and approved by AICTE). He is also the empanelled Training Faculty/Resource Person of SEBI (Securities & Exchange Board of India) to conduct SEBI sponsored “Investor Awareness/Capital Markets workshops” to spread Financial awareness among various groups of citizens in the country. He is a ‘Visiting Professor’ to other reputed colleges of India and a Corporate Trainer to some reputed Public & Private sector companies. He has wide experience in industry and academics.
He is also a ‘Director’ on the Board of a Financial services company. He has earlier been the ‘Vice President-Training’ of ‘SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd.’ He has also worked in engineering organization as well as textile industry.
Dr. Mukul Jain is a mechanical engineering graduate with dual Post-graduations in Business Management in the domains of ‘Production & Operations Management’ as well as in ‘Finance Management & HR’. He has done a PG Diploma in 'Training & Development' from ISTD (Indian Society for Training & Development). He has dual ‘Fellowships’ of ‘Insurance Institute of India’ in the field of Life as well as General Insurance. He also has dual ‘Fellowships’ of ‘The American College, USA’ in the domains of Investment Planning as well as Insurance. He has ‘Certified Financial Planner’ qualifications from FPSB (Financial Planning Standards Board). He holds a Ph.D. degree in the subject of Management.
