Q 1. Kindly tell us about your experience in the education industry and what makes it the best industry to work in?

Ans. Education to me is not all an industry; it is a process of development of the individual to get oneself ready for the industry. Perfect dedication and creation of proper learning environment on the part of the teacher can ensure the development of education as a process through which the students can be groomed up to work in any sector efficiently.

Q 2.Being the Vice-Chancellor of Seacom Skills University, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Ans. The success of educational institutions or any other organization depends solely on the successful leadership of the top personnel.  As the Vice-Chancellor of Seacom Skills University, I believe in leadership style where all the departments will be at least responsible for performing their own duties for their upgradations. The Vice-Chancellor will show them the guideline through which they can streamline their own process of work. The top level supervision will be made by the Vice-Chancellor.

Q 3. Seacom Skills University has collaboration with College, Birmingham. How do you think it has benefitted the students of this university?

Ans. The Collaboration can give the students an exposure by knowing and exchanging their views as well as through different skill training and personality grooming classes whenever they get chances. This also sometimes opens the job opportunity to the students.

Q 4. How do you look at the growth of students through placement opportunities available at Seacom Skills University? How do you wish to push the envelope further?

Ans. As the university had started only from 2014 August, students of Diploma batch will pass out this year and the B.Tech / Integrated M.Tech will pass out next year. Already, all the students have completed their industrial training from different leading Companies including State Govt. PWD sector related to civil works. A number of tie-up programs with different skill sectors are in process. Seacom has already announced and published in leading papers about 100% job guarantee to all its students.

Q 5. How do you tend to establish a with the students being the Vice-Chancellor of the university? How do you make yourselves available to them?

Ans. Since I am in the higher education field for nearly 40 years, thousands and thousands of my students still are getting my guidance in every respect. As a Vice-Chancellor, I always try to solve all the problems of students and I am available 24x7 for the university.

Q 6. Your university has students coming from different backgrounds as well as different states of the country. How do you build a positive culture or climate among the students?

Ans. Our University is situated in Rabindranath Tagore’s dreamland Santiniketan which is the important cultural hub. So, all the students are enjoying a cultural unity among themselves while retaining their own cultural entity. We encourage a harmonious cultural heritage to develop in our University where all the cultures of inside and outside India intermingled, yet keeping respect to all the cultures.

Q 7. How does your curriculum ensure best practices of the industry?

Ans. We are sending all the students for industrial training from where they are getting their best knowledge and practices. Moreover, the grooming of all the students is done in the classrooms through personality grooming classes.

Q 8. Any of the significant challenges you faced as the Vice-Chancellor of Seacom Skills University?

Ans. As the University is in a remote area of West Bengal, a number of problems are there which the Urban Universities do not need to face. But as an experienced educationist, all the challenges are faced and handled in an educative way.

Q 9. What goals do you have in your mind for your university for the next five years?

Ans. From the present session, a number of new courses have been introduced in my University like Agriculture, Pharmaceutical, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Hotel Management and Fashion Designing through skill based curriculum. Therefore, this year is the turning point of my University and a great step for future.

Q 10. Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

Ans. My suggestions for current youth and aspiring students will be “Try to be honest, dedicated towards your study and jobs. Groom yourselves to be perfect in knowledge, wisdom and modern technological skills”.
