IISM Presents Mumbai Times Carnival

The 19th edition of Mumbai Times Carnival commenced in January 2020. IISM being the Official 'Presenter' of the event adjoined the element of Sports in the latest edition of the festival. The carnival encouraged college students to participate in Dance, Music and Drama. IISM hosted a panel discussion revolving around the Importance of Sports and aligned career options at IISM campus. Through this youth-oriented carnival, IISM aimed to reinvigorate & underscore the spirit of sports amongst colleges across Mumbai. The events were exhilarating with cultural activities, renowned celebrities gracing the event, felicitation of Sportsperson and predominantly adjoined element of sports by IISM.
IISM Celebrated Junoon- India’s First Sports Management Fest

The third edition of Junoon- India's first Sports Management fest, an initiative by IISM Students, kicked off in January 2020. Junoon 2020 diversified from single sports fest to multi-sport fest. Colleges across Mumbai competed in sports events like Football, Cricket, Basketball, Chess, FIFA, and CS Go. The fest was organized and managed by IISM students, right from planning to execution, how professional sports managers execute.
The success of the fest is a testimony to their talent, diligence, leadership skills, and team building. They are the Sports Management professionals in making who would contribute tremendously towards India becoming a Sports Superpower.
IISM Taking Strides

IISM received the 'Outstanding Sports Management Institute of the Year Award' at South Asian Partnership Summit & Business Excellence Awards 2019, Sri Lanka. This event was graced by Former President of Sri Lanka- Mr. Maithripala Sirisena and our Founder Director- Mr. Nilesh Kulkarni received this conferment from Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga, former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain & Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Government of Sri Lanka.
IISM at Khelo India Youth Games 2020

IISM is proud to be the Official Knowledge Partner to the recently concluded Khelo India Youth Games, Guwahati, Assam 2020, in its third edition. The Games commenced in the month of January 2020, wherein close to 6,800 athletes from 37 states and union territories competed across 20 sports disciplines, and the games were spread across nine venues in Guwahati, Assam.
Being the official Knowledge Partner to KIYG 2020, 15 IISM Students worked with Sports Authority of India (SAI). They handled a diverse range of responsibilities in different departments like Marketing, Branding, Media, Sports Presentation, Accommodation, Catering, and Transportation. They were also coordinating with the Secretariat and looking after State Coordination and Volunteer Management. Also, these students curated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Manual on Operations Structure at SAI. Besides this, more than 35 IISM Students looked after State Coordination and Venue Overlays.
We are proud that all of the 50+ students worked diligently and tirelessly at the event. The future Sports Management professionals from IISM did a colossal job to ensure the smooth execution of Khelo India Youth Games 2020. IISM places equal emphasis on classroom and practical learning. Students get invaluable learning lessons at events like KIYG. This is where they face the thrills and chills of the Sports Management Industry.
Khelo India is an empowering initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, to revive sports culture to allow young sportspersons to shine and encourage India towards becoming a sporting nation. For ten years now, IISM is striving towards contributing in developing India as a global sporting superpower by training Sports Management heroes who would engage in representing India on a global map in leading sporting events. Sports instill leadership skills, team building, analytical thinking, and risk-taking. This common thread between IISM & Khelo India is a strong synergy.
IISM introduces ‘The Edge’ a unique course for working professionals

To provide working professionals an opportunity to tap their unexplored skills, IISM (International Institute of Sports Management) has announced the IISM Edge program. The program aims to develop leadership skills and teach the professionals the ‘Art of Losing’ and dealing with failure and also equip them with the necessary skills required to pursue excellence in their careers.
Mr. Nilesh Kulkarni, former Indian Test Cricketer has introduced the program and Mr.Tarun Chauhan, Founder, TC Consultancy (Ex-Managing Partner JWT) has developed the same. The course will provide Mid and Senior level management information, with in-depth knowledge through lectures and seminars by industry experts in the field of sports and business.
At the time of this announcement, Mr.Tarun Chauhan, Celebrated Paralympic Athlete Ms.Deepa Malik, Ex-India Hockey Captain, and CEO of Olympic Gold Quest, Mr.Viren Rasquinha and CEO of Capstone People Consulting, Dr. Sujaya Banerjee will be a part of the course module.
IISM Edge Program Quick Facts -
- The duration of the course is 9 months
- Classes will be conducted in 7-hour sessions on weekends.
- Topics such as Critical Thinking, Science of Data-Driven Decision Making/ Data to Decision, Persuasion, and influence, Active and Passive Listening, Conflict Management, Body Language, Negotiations and Leadership, and more will be covered.
- Eligibility: Graduates with a minimum experience of 5 years.
- The Middle management wanting to level up to CEO and COO are also the target audience for the course.
- Candidates will be shortlisted by an internal panel and the final candidates will be selected through an in -campus interview
Speaking on the idea behind the Course, Mr. Nilesh Kulkarni, Founder, IISM, said, "If you know your strength that’s your asset, but if you know your weakness that’s your strength." The admissions for the Edge course are currently on and the first batch is scheduled to start from February 1, 2019.
